Yordano Ventura (leg) allowed five runs in 3 1/3 innings before he was ejected for plunking Brett Lawrie.

Ventura was dealing with cramps at the beginning of the season, having to exit his first start with a right thumb cramp and his second start with a right calf cramp. On Saturday, he was ejected before his muscles could do him in. Ventura plunked Lawrie immediately after Josh Reddick smashed a three-run homer off the pitcher. He struck out two and walked two in his limited time on the mound. Once he stops cramping up and stops throwing tantrums, Ventura should be a valuable fantasy starter. Last season, he held a 3.20 ERA and a 1.295 WHIP in 183 innings. If he's not suspended, Ventura will face the White Sox in his next outing. Otherwise, we might be looking at Chris Young.

Angels optioned LHP Adam Wilk to Triple-A Salt Lake.

The Angels sent him down to make room for Garrett Richards. He only made one appearance, pitching two innings against the Tigers on Wednesday. Wilk will probably be up again the next time an Angels pitcher gets hurt.

In his first career start leading off, Ryan Braun hit two singles against the Pirates.

Braun finished the game 2-for-3. While the singles are nice, they marked a continuation of an odd start for Braun. After smacking 30 doubles and 19 home runs last season, Braun has yet to notch his first extra-base hit of the 2015 season. The power should come eventually, but it should be remembered that the former MVP underwent thumb surgery in October.

Starling Marte hit his third home run of the season while driving in five runs in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Brewers.

Marte almost single-handedly sent Brewers' starter Kyle Lohse to the showers. In the first inning, the outfielder hit a two-run single to center. Then, in the fifth, he launched a three-run shot to left. If this wasn't enough, he also chipped in a stolen base just for fun. This was his second home run in as many days (and his second steal in as many days, to boot). All of this came after an icy start to the season. Even with the recent pyrotechnics, he's still hitting just .189/.225/.459 on the year. Marte was a .291 hitter last year. Don't worry too much about the early struggles.

Jeff Locke allowed one run on four hits over eight innings of work against the Brewers on Saturday.

Locke gave up a sacrifice fly to Jonathan Lucroy in the first inning and nothing the rest of the way. He struck out six without walking a batter. Locke tends to issue too many free passes (2.7 BB/9 last season), so it's nice to see him with a clean column. Despite the walk tendencies, his ability to keep opponents off the board makes him a palatable, if unsexy fantasy option in NL-only leagues. We don't think Locke's ERA will stay south of 3.00 (it's currently 1.91), but a high-2.00, low-3.00 ERA could be in play. Locke will look to shackle up the Cubs in his next outing.

Kyle Lohse surrendered six earned runs over six innings in Saturday's loss to the Pirates.

In Lohse's first two starts of the year, he allowed eight runs and four runs. Things didn't look much better on Saturday. He allowed three runs in the first inning off of a pair of RBI singles, then gave up a three-run bomb to Starling Marte in the fifth. His ERA for the season now sits at 10.34. The veteran right-hander is best left off fantasy rosters until these numbers settle. He'll try to get that ERA into single digits when he faces the Reds in his next outing.
