Dylan Bundy (shoulder) has been placed on the 7-day disabled list with Double-A Bowie.

Bundy was scratched from Tuesday's scheduled start due to shoulder soreness, but the good news is that an MRI revealed no structural damage. The 22-year-old received anti-inflammatories and should be ready to resume throwing in a couple of weeks.

Carlos Santana is expected to be placed on the paternity leave list.

Santana's wife gave birth to a baby girl Thursday morning. The Indians should make an official roster move soon.
May 28 - 5:40 PM

Rusney Castillo (shoulder) is back in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Rangers.

Castillo was held out of Wednesday's lineup due to a sore shoulder, but it's not a major concern. He's hitting ninth Thursday against right-hander Nick Martinez.

Tigers recalled RHP Buck Farmer from Triple-A Toledo.

He'll take the place of Kyle Lobstein (shoulder) in Detroit's rotation and will start against the Angels on Thursday. The 24-year-old struggled in his first stint in the majors last year, but he had a 2.98 ERA and 50/19 K/BB ratio in 51 1/3 innings over nine starts this season in Triple-A. He should be relevant in AL-only leagues as long as he has a rotation spot.
May 28 - 5:34 PM

Rob Brantly has been cleared to begin a minor league rehab assignment with Double-A Birmingham.

Brantly has been sidelined since mid-April with an avulsion fracture in his left thumb. He'll likely remain in the minors even after he's back to full health.
May 28 - 5:31 PM

Stephen Vogt will start at first base Thursday against the Yankees.

It will be his third start of the season at first base and his second in the past three days. Josh Phegley will start behind the plate and catch Kendall Graveman.
May 28 - 5:06 PM

Royals general manager Dayton Moore said that Kris Medlen (elbow) will depart for a minor league rehab assignment "sooner rather than later."

Medlen, who signed a two-year deal with the Royals over the winter, is being brought along slowly after undergoing the second Tommy John surgery on his career last March. The team wants him to build up to five innings before going on a rehab assignment. It's unclear whether he's coming back as a starter or reliever.
May 28 - 5:01 PM

Matt Harrison (back) threw 77 pitches Thursday in an extended spring training game.

The next step calls for him to throw a bullpen session Sunday in Arlington, which could set him up to begin a minor league rehab assignment next week. A return before the end of June appears possible. Harrison is currently working his way back from spinal fusion surgery.
