Reds recalled 1B Neftali Soto from Triple-A Louisville.
Reds optioned LHP Tony Cingrani to Triple-A Louisville.
The Reds need to clear a rotation spot with Johnny Cueto set to return from the disabled list Monday, so Cingrani will officially be sent down. He was mostly impressive over his first six major league starts, posting a 3.27 ERA, nine walks and 41 strikeouts over 33 innings. Neftali Soto has been called up to replace Cingrani on the active roster, while Mike Leake will remain the team's fifth starter.
Orioles recalled RHP Jake Arrieta from Triple-A Norfolk.
Arrieta was scheduled to start for the Orioles' Triple-A affiliate, but will instead serve as bullpen depth for Saturday's game. The 27-year-old has a 6.63 ERA over 12 innings at the major league level this season.
Orioles optioned RHP Alex Burnett to Triple-A Norfolk.
Burnett lasted just three days on the Orioles' roster. He'll return to a 1.50 ERA in the minors.
Orioles purchased the contract of RHP Jair Jurrjens from Triple-A Norfolk.
Jurrjens will make his season debut Saturday against the Rays. He posted a 3.14 ERA in eight starts at the Triple-A level and will get his chance in the Orioles' rotation with Wei-Yin Chen on the disabled list. The 27-year-old right-hander should be monitored in AL-only leagues.
White Sox recalled LHP Donnie Veal from Triple-A Charlotte.
Veal posted a 4.26 ERA in 12 appearances with the White Sox earlier this season, but seems to have fixed his command issues in the minors. The 28-year-old will serve as a left-handed specialist.
Yankees designated INF Alberto Gonzalez for assignment.
Gonzalez was DFA'd to make room for Reid Brignac on the active roster. He should pass through waivers and continue to serve as organizational infield depth. The Yankees will be forced to go short-handed for now with Brignac not expected to arrive in time for Saturday's game.
Josh Johnson (triceps) will begin a rehab assignment Monday with High-A Dunedin.
Johnson has been on the DL since April 29, but he hasn't had any issues during his throwing program. He'll likely need 2-3 games before he's cleared to rejoin the Blue Jays' rotation. Johnson is on track for a return in the early part of June.
