Archie Bradley was diagnosed with right shoulder inflammation after getting a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews.

In other words, Andrews confirmed the diagnosis of team doctors. The good news is that there's no structural damage, but there's no clear timetable for Bradley's return.

Will Middlebrooks (ankle) went through agility drills on the field Thursday.

Middlebrooks has been limited to pinch-hitting duties since rolling his ankle on Sunday. He could return to the lineup as soon as Friday.

Dale Thayer (shoulder) is expected to begin a minor league rehab assignment this weekend.

He might only need a couple of appearances before returning. Thayer has been out since June 16 with a right shoulder strain.

Ian Desmond is out of Thursday's lineup against the Braves.

He's getting a day off to work on his swing mechanics. Danny Espinosa will start at shortstop while Dan Uggla plays second base.
Jul 2 - 5:39 PM

Ryan Zimmerman (foot) did some hitting, fielding, and light running on Thursday.

Zimmerman has been ramping up baseball activities over the past couple of weeks, but he's waiting for the pain to dissipate before going at 100 percent. He's not close to a minor league rehab assignment yet, so his return date remains up in the air.
Jul 2 - 5:35 PM

Carl Crawford (oblique) is out of Thursday's lineup with High-A Rancho Cucamonga due to flu-like symptoms.

Crawford left Wednesday's rehab game after he was hit by a pitch, but his absence on Thursday apparently isn't related. If so, odds are he'll return to game action this weekend.
Jul 2 - 5:30 PM

Yordano Ventura (hand) will likely make another minor league rehab start.

Ventura, out since June 13 with ulnar neuritis, allowed just one run over 5 1/3 innings Wednesday at Triple-A Omaha. He still felt a very slight numbness in his hand, so the Royals want to play things safe before activating him.

Dodgers acquired INF Tim Locastro and RHP Chase DeJong from the Blue Jays for international bonus slots 27, 57 and 117.

Locastro, who turns 23 later this month, owns a .305/.399/.392 batting line with 74 steals over his first 180 games in pro ball. He already had a career-high five homers over 70 games this season with Class A Lansing.
