Cardinals acquired OF Tyler O'Neill from the Mariners in exchange for LHP Marco Gonzales.

O'Neill was ranked by Baseball America as the No. 38 prospect in baseball coming into the season. His standing has dropped a bit with a .244/.328/.479 showing so far in his first taste of Triple-A, but he's still cracked 19 homers and is among the better power-hitting prospects in the game. The Cards currently have a glut of outfielders, so it's hard to see O'Neill contributing in 2017. However, he's an interesting prospect.

Mariners acquired LHP Marco Gonzales from the Cardinals in exchange for OF Tyler O'Neill.

A former first-round pick, Gonzales has been excellent in his first season back from Tommy John surgery, posting a 2.78 ERA and 64/17 K/BB ratio over 74 1/3 innings in the minors. The left-hander is a high-floor, low-ceiling type player who should be a solid mid- to back-end of the rotation option for the Mariners. It shouldn't be long before he gets a shot for them in the majors.

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that the Twins' trade for Jaime Garcia could fall through.

Jon Morosi of MLB Network reported Thursday that the two sides had reached an agreement on a trade, but there appears to be a snag. Garcia has a long history of injury issues, especially involving his pitching shoulder, so it's possible a physical issue might be the concern. Garcia is currently still penciled in to start for the Braves on Friday against the Dodgers, but Aaron Blair is in Los Angeles and will fill in if the deal goes through.

Cubs manager Joe Maddon said Friday that Kyle Hendricks (hand) is "ready to rock" and could rejoin the rotation early next week.

Hendricks spun five perfect innings in his final rehab start Monday to show the Cubs he was ready. He's been out since early June because of tendinitis in his pitching hand. Mike Montgomery will head back to the bullpen when Hendricks returns, although it's possible he'll get one more start first.

Marlins recalled RHP Brian Ellington from Triple-A New Orleans.

He's taking David Phelps' spot on the roster and in the bullpen. The hard-throwing Ellington has struggled in the majors this season with a 7.71 ERA over 11 2/3 innings.

Athletics recalled 1B/OF Matt Olson from Triple-A Nashville.

Olson has batted .184/.310/.449 with four homers over 49 at-bats during his time in the majors this season. He should get some chances in right field.

Reds manager Bryan Price spoke to Jose Peraza earlier this week about being benched in favor of Scooter Gennett.

Price had said previously that he would stick with Peraza at second base when Zack Cozart returned from the disabled list, but he's changed his mind with Peraza continuing to struggle and Gennett continuing to hit. "I really need that influx of Scooter’s bat in our lineup on a more consistent basis," Price said. Peraza has still started four of the last five games, but two of the starts were at shortstop while Cozart rested. It sounds like Peraza will need Cozart to be traded in order to have a regular job again.

USA Today's Bob Nightengale reports that the Brewers have been "aggressive" in trade talks for Justin Wilson.

Other teams have been as well, of course, with Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reporting earlier this week that 10-12 clubs were in on the left-handed reliever. Wilson seems likelier to set up than close wherever he winds up, and that would be the case in Milwaukee.
