The PGA Tour keeps with the foreign flavor, stopping in Ontario, Canada this week, where Jim Furyk is the two-time defending champion.

 Kevin ChappellJul. 24 - 10:51 pm et
Kevin Chappell posted a 5-over-par 76 in the opening round of the Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational.
Chappell led the UCLA Bruins to the NCAA Division-I title this spring and took home the individual championship, all the while competing with the heaviest of hearts. In October, his brother passed away at the age of 24 (complications from diabetes) and his best friend from high school died in his sleep in the spring. Along with fellow first-team All-Americans, Michael H. Thompson and Jonas Blixt, Chappell is making his professional debut in Columbus this week.
 Michael H. Thompson-GJul. 24 - 10:24 pm et
Michael H. Thompson signed for a 6-over-par 77 in the opening round of the Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational.
Par is a very good score at the OSU Scarlet course but the first-team All-American couldn't find his footing from the get-go. He pulled his opening drive into the rough en route to one of six bogeys or worse in his first start as a professional. He has six sponsor's exemptions remaining on the PGA Tour this season and will undoubtedly squeeze his way into a field or two down the stretch.
 Jeff Gove-GJul. 24 - 9:53 pm et
Jeff Gove was 1-under-par through nine holes when the first round of the Canadian Open was suspended due to darkness.
Play was suspended for about five-and-a-half hours due to inclement weather this afternoon, forcing the entire afternoon wave to return at 7:00 a.m. local time on Friday to finish. Gove pulled out of the U.S. Bank after one round (72) last week due to personal reasons and will have an 11-foot putt for par on the 1st hole when play resumes on Friday. Because of today's delay, the second round will bleed into Saturday morning, which usually means a withdrawal or two from late starters with zero chance at making the cut.
 Steve Elkington-GJul. 24 - 9:29 pm et
Steve Elkington posted a 1-over-par 72 in the opening round of the Canadian Open.
You can always count on Elkington to get sidelined for a few weeks during the season. He's back this week after a brief stint away due to a back injury and wasn't in top form today, evident with just nine GIR on the round.
 Eric Axley-GJul. 24 - 1:31 pm et
Eric Axley carded a 6-under-par 65 in the opening round of the Canadian Open.
Axley was 1-over through three holes today before sinking five birdies over his next 13 holes and a 16-foot putt for eagle at the last. Axley has displayed some great form lately, thanks to a much-improved putter. That was evident again today as he hit 13 GIR and took just 25 putts. He's one of three that shares the morning wave clubhouse lead.
 Anthony Kim-GJul. 24 - 1:22 pm et
Anthony Kim crafted a 6-under-par 65 in the opening round of the Canadian Open.
Kim hit 13 (of 14) fairways, 15 GIR and took a tidy 27 putts in his first-ever loop of Glen Abbey. He showed zero hangover from the British and should contend all weekend. Kim has been in some kind of a groove for three months.
 Mike Weir-GJul. 24 - 1:17 pm et
Mike Weir carded a bogey-free, 6-under-par 65 in the opening round of the Canadian Open.
In his first round at Glen Abbey since losing to Vijay Singh in a playoff at the 2004 Canadian Open, Weir dropped two birdies on his front nine (hole 10-18) and four more on the way in. He hit 13 GIR and needed just 25 putts to match his competitive career low at the course.
