 Glen Davis - F/CFeb. 9 - 4:05 pm et
The Celtics and Bobcats are discussing a trade revolving around Glen Davis and D.J. Augustin, according to ESPN's Chris Broussard.
The deal makes sense for both sides, but additional players would be needed to make it work. Davis would satisfy Larry Brown's desire for a big man that provides toughness while Augustin would give the Celts a viable backup point guard for Rajon Rondo. Even if this trade goes down, we wouldn't run to the wire to add either one.

 Paul Pierce - G/FFeb. 9 - 3:04 am et
Celtics coach Doc Rivers thinks Paul Pierce (left mid-foot sprain) will play on Wednesday.
"Paul didn’t do a lot (in Monday's practice)," Rivers said. "We actually pulled him out early. He ... wasn’t moving very well, so we just took him out." It sounds like the move was precautionary, but it never hurts to check back for updates.

 Paul Pierce - G/FFeb. 8 - 3:28 pm et
Paul Pierce left Monday's practice early and is now questionable for Wednesday's game.
We don't have many details, but assume he aggravated his foot injury in today's practice. Consider him a game-time decision for now, and watch for an update on Tuesday.

 Kevin Martin - GFeb. 8 - 9:40 am et
The Celtics, Mavericks and Timberwolves have all shown interest in trading for Kings' SG Kevin Martin.
Sacramento has lost 19 of its last 22 games, as Martin's return (and swirling trade rumors) seems to have had a destabilising effect. The Wolves could break up their frontcourt to land KevMart, and owners should keep a close watch as we approach the Feb. 18 deadline.
 Ray Allen - GFeb. 8 - 9:35 am et
The Celtics are actively looking to trade Ray Allen, according to CBSSports.com, and recently they inquired about Kings guard Kevin Martin.
Ken Berger writes, "Kings officials might be talked out of their reluctance to deal Martin if they could pry a prolific big man out of a third team brought into the discussions." Boston has also inquired about Kirk Hinrich as they look for a long-term solution at SG.

 Marquis Daniels - G/FFeb. 7 - 5:29 pm et
Marquis Daniels returned from a 29-game absence due to a thumb injury on Sunday, and finished with eight points on 4-of-7 shooting with three rebounds, no assists, and one steal in 12 minutes.
Daniels gives the Celtics versatility coming off the bench, and could certainly hold some fantasy value with an injury to any of the guard or small forward positions. Just keep an eye on him for now, but be ready to pounce if the situation presents itself.
 Paul Pierce - G/FFeb. 7 - 5:23 pm et
Paul Pierce (mid-foot sprain) returned to action in Sunday's loss to the Magic, and finished with 13 points on 5-of-12 shooting (1-of-6 from downtown) with four rebounds, no assists, and three steals in 30 minutes.
This isn't the line owners were looking for, but at least he's on the court. Aside from him getting up to speed, owners will want to consider that the Celtics have just one game next week when making lineup decisions with him.
 Rajon Rondo - GFeb. 7 - 5:20 pm et
Rajon Rondo posted a monster line against the Magic on Sunday, hitting 7-of-13 shots from the field (including two rare 3-pointers) on his way to 17 points, eight rebounds, nine assists, and three steals.
With the core of the team aging, injured, and in the case of Ray Allen on the trade block, it goes without saying that Rondo will be constant in Boston's equation. As great as he has performed so far, his best days this year could still be on the way.
 Paul Pierce - G/FFeb. 7 - 1:47 pm et
Paul Pierce (mid-foot sprain) and Marquis Daniels (thumb) will both play Sunday against the Magic.
Owners should go ahead and get Pierce into their lineups, since he's basically 100 percent. Daniels, on the other hand, doesn't have much fantasy value as a backup, but could see more time as the year goes on.

 Paul Pierce - G/FFeb. 6 - 4:53 pm et
Paul Pierce (mid-foot sprain) plans to play against the Magic on Sunday, but coach Doc Rivers said he will be a game-time decision.
"I feel pretty good, light practice, I'm good to go tomorrow," Pierce said. Doc Rivers, on the other hand, said Pierce looked "a little hesitant ... And if he's hesitant, then I will probably sit him. We'll see tomorrow."

 Marquis Daniels - G/FFeb. 6 - 10:18 am et
Celtics swingman Marquis Daniels (thumb) continues to practice but is questionable for Sunday's game vs. the Magic.
"I’m not so sure about him on Sunday." said coach Doc Rivers. "We’ll have to throw him in eventually." Daniels has missed 28 games since having surgery to repair a ligament in his thumb.

 Ray Allen - GFeb. 5 - 10:56 pm et
Ray Allen hit 9-of-17 shots and three 3-pointers for 26 points, seven rebounds and two assists in Friday's win.
Rajon Rondo added 17 points and 11 assists, while Eddie House scored all 10 of his points in the fourth quarter. Glen Davis also chipped in with 13 points off the bench.
 Paul Pierce - G/FFeb. 5 - 2:36 pm et
Paul Pierce, Chauncey Billups, Daequan Cook, Stephen Curry, Danilo Gallinari and Channing Frye have been selected to participate in the 3-point shooutout at All-Star weekend.
Most importantly, this assures us that Pierce's foot is not in any serious danger. He almost certainly won't play Friday but will try to talk Doc Rivers into letting him play on Sunday. As for the shooutout, Cook is back to defend his crown while Gallinari is leading the NBA in 3-pointers made per game.
 Marquis Daniels - G/FFeb. 5 - 12:54 am et
Marquis Daniels practiced on Thursday after missing nearly two months with a thumb injury, and while he isn't ruled out for Friday's game it's more likely that he plays Sunday.
"I’m sure we’ll discuss that (playing Friday) and see, but I would say I doubt it," Rivers said. "It’ll be great to get him back playing. It’ll help a lot of things. It’ll help some of the guys get rest." Doc has a point. And with an older Celtics' roster Daniels is somebody to be watched in the second half.

 Paul Pierce - G/FFeb. 5 - 12:28 am et
Paul Pierce (foot) is doubtful for Friday's game against the Nets, and is targeting a return Sunday against the Magic.
"I just told him I’m not playing him (Sunday) unless he feels he’s great," Rivers said. "I don’t want to hear that, ‘I can get through a game.’ That’s not good enough for me or for him. So if he feels good on Sunday we’ll play him. If he doesn’t, we’ll wait until Wednesday. If he doesn’t (then), we’ll wait until after the All-Star break." Pierce says the injury isn't serious, but you can count on Rivers to play it safe with him.

 Marquis Daniels - G/FFeb. 4 - 4:58 pm et
Marquis Daniels (thumb) put in a full practice for the first time all season on Thursday.
Coach Doc Rivers sounded skeptical about how much of an impact Daniels can have right away. "He has to be re-taught all the stuff all over again. So it's tough," Rivers said. Daniels is targeting Wednesday for his return, but we'd leave him on waivers unless Paul Pierce's foot injury is more serious than the C's are letting on right now.

 Paul Pierce - G/FFeb. 4 - 4:54 pm et
Paul Pierce (foot) is considered doubtful for Friday's game against the Nets.
Pierce said if it was a playoff game, he could go. But the Celts are playing the Nets at home and should have an easy win even without Pierce. It sounds like Pierce will be ready for Sunday's game against the Magic. In the meantime, Tony Allen will start and get a ton of minutes but remain a low-end fantasy option.

 Paul Pierce - G/FFeb. 4 - 8:29 am et
As expected, Paul Pierce (foot strain) did not play Wednesday but was without any protection on his foot and walked without supports.
Pierce's foot was originally feared to be broken and later believed to be sprained, but a strain is a much better diagnosis. "I don’t think he’ll play (tomorrow) but then after that we’ll see," Doc Rivers said. We wouldn't be surprised to see him sit until the All-Star break but Pierce could surprise us.

 Marquis Daniels - G/FFeb. 4 - 8:17 am et
Marquis Daniels (thumb) participated in a light practice Wednesday and is expected to return to full contact practice on Thursday.
Daniels has demonstrated good progress with this injury with the result being that his return date keeps getting bumped up. His return has been adjusted to February 10th against New Orleans with the possibility that he could play as soon as this Sunday against Orlando.

 Kevin Garnett - FFeb. 4 - 8:08 am et
Kevin Garnett was adamant in refuting comments by teammate Rajon Rondo that there is a lot of "finger pointing" going on in the Boston Celtics locker room.
"We aren’t a team here that points fingers...if anything needs to be said, it will be said within the closed confinements of the locker room and among each other as men," Garnett said. It's entirely possible that Garnett is speaking to what ought to be the case and Rondo is speaking to what's actually happening.
