Roscoe Parrish
- WR
Nov. 21 - 9:51 am et
Bills' interim coach Perry Fewell was non-committal when asked if PR/WR Roscoe Parrish will be active this week.
Parrish had been benched for the past handful of games by fired coach Dick Jauron. He has led the NFL in punt return average each of the past two seasons before struggling earlier this season. Fred Jackson has been handling kick/punt return duties.

Nov. 21 - 9:14 am et
Bills owner Ralph Wilson was trying to line up the team's next head coach even before Dick Jauron was fired this past week.
According to a Buffalo TV station, the Bills and Wilson "went after Jon Gruden hard." Their efforts reportedly included a face-to-face meeting. If the Bills had landed Gruden, they would have violated the Rooney Rule because no minority candidate was interviewed. Gruden signed an "exclusive" deal to remain with ESPN on Monday, so it doesn't look like he'll be coaching in 2010.

Cary Harris
- DB
Nov. 20 - 4:37 pm et
Bills signed DB Cary Harris off their practice squad.
Harris was a sixth-round pick out of USC in April. He's too slow to play corner for most teams, but Buffalo's Tampa 2 scheme suits his skills as a sure tackler. He may also see some action at free safety on the practice field.
Keith Ellison
- LB
Nov. 20 - 4:35 pm et
Bills placed OLB Keith Ellison (quadriceps) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Ellison presumably tore his quads when he went down early this month. 26 in February, Ellison is eligible for free agency in the offseason. He was averaging an outstanding 8.5 tackles per game before the injury, but would be a backup/nickel linebacker on a good team. Ellison doesn't play the run well.
Marcus Stroud
- DL
Nov. 20 - 2:03 pm et
Bills DT Marcus Stroud (knee) has been ruled out for Week 11.
As if Maurice Jones-Drew's matchup against the No. 32 run defense could get any better. Stroud, Buffalo's nose tackle, leads Bills defensive linemen in tackles with 40, and they may also be minus "three technique" Kyle Williams again due to a knee sprain. Williams is questionable on the injury report.

Trent Edwards
- QB
Nov. 20 - 10:51 am et
The Buffalo News believes the addition of Brian Brohm is a sign that the Bills are "prepared to move forward without Trent Edwards."
Edwards was once considered a potential franchise quarterback, but he lacks NFL arm strength while struggling with injuries and confidence level. Most disturbingly, he's shown an inability to get the ball in the hands of his best playmaker, opting instead for dumpoffs and checkdowns.

Brian Brohm
- QB
Nov. 20 - 10:33 am et
Brian Brohm admits he struggled with his confidence after getting off to a rough start in Green Bay.
"There were some issues kind of in my head, a little confidence-wise maybe, where I got off to bad start and really never got things rolling," said Brohm. The Bills have nothing in front of him, so he may see game action in December. The 2008 second-rounder is worth a flier in deep Dynasty leagues.

Terrence McGee
- DB
Nov. 19 - 4:49 pm et
Bills LCB Terrence McGee is still not practicing, 17 days after undergoing a knee scope.
McGee was originally expected to return to game action this week, but he doesn't want to push the knee. He insists there's been no setback and is simply taking longer to heal. The Bills defense continues to play well even without both starting corners.

Nov. 19 - 2:12 pm et
Bills owner Ralph Wilson downplayed a report that the team is interested in meeting with former Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan.
"I don't know anything about him," Wilson said, stopping short of an outright denial. The Bills insist they are focused on the final seven games of the season with interim coach Perry Fewell, but you can bet they're putting out feelers around the league.

Ryan Fitzpatrick
- QB
Nov. 19 - 12:44 pm et
Terrell Owens said he thought Ryan Fitzpatrick should have remained the Bills' starter even after Trent Edwards was over his consussion.
Lee Evans basically seconded that notion, which is more terrible news for Edwards. Fitzpatrick is a clear backup-level quarterback in the NFL and it's unikely he'll be able to jumpstart this struggling offense. Fitzpatrick isn't even a good play in two-QB leagues against a weak Jaguars secondary this week.

Gibran Hamdan
- QB
Nov. 19 - 11:10 am et
Bills released QB Gibran Hamdan.
Buffalo is choosing to go with the potential and pedigree of Brian Brohm, who they signed off the Packers' practice squad Wednesday. Hamdan never attempted a pass with the Bills, though he did consistently outperform J.P. Losman on the practice field during the 2007 and 2008 seasons.

Andy Levitre
- G
Nov. 19 - 8:59 am et
Bills rookie LG Andy Levitre is expected to make his first NFL start at left tackle on Sunday.
Levitre, a left tackle in college, took over at the position last week when Demetrius Bell left with a knee injury. With Bell still sidelined, Levitre got a full week of practice reps on the blind side. Sunday will mark the fifth different tackle pairing the Bills have had in 10 games. Levitre will be the NFL's smallest left tackle at 6'3/305. He also has short arms.

NFL.com's Vic Carucci reports that the Bills will meet with former Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan next week.
Carucci confirms that Shanahan is Buffalo's "No. 1" head coaching target. The meeting will involve owner Ralph Wilson and COO/GM Russ Brandon, who Shanahan would probably give a pink slip to if he's hired. It's well known that Shanahan wants full control of football operations, even if taking on such responsibilities didn't work out towards the end of his Broncos stint. Wilson is reportedly willing to offer The Mastermind any amount of salary to take the job.

Brian Brohm
- QB
Nov. 18 - 11:58 pm et
Bills signed QB Brian Brohm off the Packers' practice squad.
Brohm is unlikely to make a difference in Buffalo, but he's a worthwhile late-season pickup with the Bills going nowhere. The 2008 second-round pick lacked confidence throughout his 1 1/2-year stay in Green Bay. He has NFL-caliber tools, but probably needs a miracle-working position coach to fix his mindset. Brohm will finish out 2009 as Buffalo's No. 4 quarterback.

NFL.com's Vic Carucci disputes Adam Schefter of ESPN's report that the Bills are in the process of scheduling a meeting with former Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan about their vacancy in the same position.
Carucci says the Bills haven't requested such a meet-and-greet, but we'll believe Schefter here. He has very close ties to Shanahan, having worked as a former Broncos beat reporter. No hire will be made before late January.

Nov. 18 - 3:47 pm et
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Bills have already contacted Mike Shanahan about their head coaching vacancy.
The Bills are reportedly "in the process" of setting up a visit with Shanahan, and The Mastermind "is willing to listen." While the Browns are targeting Mike Holmgren to be their overseer, Shanahan has emerged as Bills owner Ralph Wilson's desired candidate. Shanahan's hiring, which wouldn't occur before January, would likely cost current Bills GM/COO Russ Brandon his job.

Ryan Fitzpatrick
- QB
Nov. 18 - 2:25 pm et
Interim coach Perry Fewell confirmed Wednesday that Ryan Fitzpatrick will be the Bills' starting quarterback in Week 11.
Fewell, the Bills' defensive coordinator before his "promotion" to head coach following Dick Jauron's firing, has directed his unit against Trent Edwards in practice for the last three seasons. It's a bad sign for Edwards that Fewell believes Fitzpatrick gives Buffalo a better chance to win. Fitz is completing under 50% of his passes, averaging 4.7 YPA, and has thrown two TDs to four INTs in four 2009 appearances. He'll start at Jacksonville on Sunday.

Derek Fine
- TE
Nov. 18 - 12:13 pm et
Bills placed TE Derek Fine (knee) on injured reserve, ending his season.
The extent of Fine's knee injury hasn't been revealed. An H-back type tight end, Fine finishes his second season with nine catches for 64 yards and no scores in eight appearances. He has a future in the league as a backup.
Joe Klopfenstein
- TE
Nov. 18 - 10:26 am et
Bills signed TE Joe Klopfenstein.
Klopfenstein has been on the street since the Rams waived the former second-round pick before the season. He'll step in as Buffalo's No. 4 tight end behind Derek Fine, rookie Shawn Nelson, and Jonathan Stupar.

Ryan Fitzpatrick
- QB
Nov. 17 - 9:50 pm et
Bills interim head coach Perry Fewell will announce his starting QB for Week 11 on Wednesday.
NFL.com's Jason La Canfora reported early Tuesday that Ryan Fitzpatrick would get the nod over Trent Edwards at Jacksonville, but that was before Fewell was named the stand-in coach in the wake of Dick Jauron's firing. Consider Buffalo's starter a total toss up until we get Fewell's official word.
