Tim Duncan lost 15 pounds this summer and his ailing knees have improved, but coach Gregg Popovich hopes to limit him to about 32 minutes per game.
Duncan didn't play any 5-on-5 games until this month, doing most of his summer workouts on an anti-gravity treadmill or in a swimming pool. In addition to a dip in playing time, random DNPs are a possibility -- the Spurs restocked their frontcourt with Antonio McDyess, Theo Ratliff, and DeJuan Blair.

The Spurs signed journeyman center Theo Ratliff on Thursday.
He's an insurance policy for Tim Duncan and Antonio McDyess, but averaged just 1.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 12.6 minutes last year in Philly. And in case you're wondering, Duncan is 33, McDyess is 34 and Ratliff is 36 years old. He shouldn't offer any fantasy value, but might be worth owning in a deep league if you find yourself desperate for blocks.

According to Yahoo! sports, the Spurs have signed backup shot blocker Theo Ratliff.
Ratliff figures to play a similar role to the one he played last year with the Sixers, when he was healthy but appeared in just 46 games. If the Spurs front line catches a rash of injuries, Ratliff will be called upon. Otherwise, Tim Duncan, Antonio McDyess, Matt Bonner, Drew Gooden and possibly DeJuan Blair will eat up all the paint minutes.

The Houston Chronicle is reporting that the Rockets are pursuing unrestricted free agent Theo Ratliff.
The Rockets currently have 6'9" forward Luis Scola masquerading as their center, so needless to say they're very thin in their frontcourt. It's conceivable that Ratliff could provide a bit of fantasy value if he lands in Houston, but it's still hard to imagine him carrying a full workload.

Theo Ratliff dismissed the 76ers coaching staff as "too soft" following their season-ending loss to the Magic on Thursday night.
"The coaches are responsible for guys [being] prepared and playing," Ratliff said. "It's been that way all year, so you couldn't expect anything different." He proceeded to blow off a mandatory team meeting on Friday and it's safe to assume the unrestricted FA won't be in Philadelphia next season.
