Pacers center Jeff Foster is expected to fly to Los Angeles later this week to get another opinion on his sore back.
Foster will likely need surgery -- it's just a matter of when he decides to do it. He hasn't played since the middle of December and beat writer Mike Wells doesn't expect to see him play again this season.

Multiple sources have reported that Pacers big man Jeff Foster will need season-ending surgery on his injured back.
Foster's absence is a tough blow for Indiana, but it opens up minutes for young players Roy Hibbert and Tyler Hansbrough (still out with an ear infection). The Nuggets had been pursuing Foster but this obviously puts an end to that.

Pacers center Jeff Foster (back) hopes to return within two weeks.
Great news for the Pacers, especially if they're trying to boost his trade value in anticipation of the February 18 deadline. His return could make Roy Hibbert a bit more inconsistent, if that's possible.

The Nuggets came very close to striking a deal for a big man last week, and have been known to covet Pacers backup center Jeff Foster.
Foster may or may not have been a part of this deal, but it makes sense. The Pacers' names have been popping up in many different trade discussions, and the Nuggets' frontcourt is one injury away from being in big trouble. There's nothing to act on here, but keep an eye on how things progress.

The Pacers have confirmed that Troy Murphy (ankle) and Jeff Foster (back) will not play on Tuesday.
Neither of Indiana's veteran big men were expected to play, so hopefully this doesn't rattle too many fantasy lineups. Murphy could return later this week, when the Pacers play a back-to-back set on Friday and Saturday.
