Rays signed LHP R.J. Swindle to a minor league contract.
He also received an invite to spring training. Swindle was claimed off waivers from the Brewers in August, but never threw a pitch for the Rays after he was designated for assignment just one day later. He finished the year in the Cleveland organization, posting a 4.05 ERA in six appearances with Triple-A Columbus. The soft-tossing 26-year-old will likely compete with Randy Choate, among others, to be Tampa's left-handed specialist. |
