White Sox declined outfielder Jermaine Dye's $12 million option for 2010.
He'll get a $1 buyout in a no-brainer move for the team. Dye had a strong 2008 and hit .302/.375/.567 with 20 homers in the first half this season, but fell apart in the second half while batting just .179 with seven homers in 60 games. Dye has bounced back from huge slumps before, but at 35 years old time may be running out. |
