Phillies released outfielder Geoff Jenkins.
Signed to a two-year, $13 million contract last offseason, Jenkins lost his starting job to Jayson Werth and is now completely out of the Phillies' plans after hitting just .246/.301/.392 last season. He still has some value as a platoon player or bench bat, but at 34 years old Jenkins is likely done as a regular and the Phillies have the similarly skilled Matt Stairs around to take his at-bats. |
