Wes Helms hit a walk-off solo homer in an 8-7 win over the Braves on Wednesday night.
A wild game, the Braves tied it with a solo home run by Yunel Escobar in the top of the ninth inning, but Helms left little doubt with one-out blast off Mike Gonzalez that landed well above the scoreboard in left field to end it. It was just Helms' third home run in 179 at-bats this season. The win keeps the Marlins five games back in the Wild Card race.

 Hanley Ramirez-SS - Marlins Jun. 11 - 11:03 am et

Hanley Ramirez was given the day off on Thursday.
Ramirez is still battling a sore left groin. He'll return Friday, but look for him to get a few more days off in the month of June. Emilio Bonifacio is playing shortstop with Wes Helms playing third base and batting third in the lineup.

 Wes Helms-3B - Marlins Jun. 3 - 3:53 am et

Wes Helms (viral infection) was used as a pinch hitter Tuesday night.
Helms failed to reach base. The illness reportedly sapped much of his strength. He may need a few days in the batting cage before he begins contributing offensively.

Wes Helms is sidelined with a viral infection.
The ailment has sapped all of his strength. Helms believes he'll be able to pinch hit as early as Tuesday.

 Hanley Ramirez-SS - Marlins May. 29 - 7:33 pm et

Hanley Ramirez (groin) may return to the starting lineup Saturday.
Ramirez is available to pinch hit, according to manager Fredi Gonzalez, but we doubt they would jeopardize his tight groin for that. We wouldn't be surprised if he has to miss another day or two - groin injuries are notoriously nagging injuries. Emilio Boniacio shifted to shortstop Friday while Wes Helms started at third.

 Hanley Ramirez-SS - Marlins May. 27 - 3:52 pm et

Hanley Ramirez (groin) is not in the starting lineup on Wednesday.
He left Tuesday's game in the third inning after beating out an infield single. Emilio Bonifacio gets the start at shortstop, with Wes Helms taking Bonifacio's place at third.
