Odalis Perez, who agreed to a minor league deal earlier this month to stay with the Nationals, won't report to camp unless he's given a better contract.
It's hard to blame Perez for not being thrilled about how the whole process went down this winter, but he's far from handling it correctly. "I thought it best and I prefer to sit in my house if the Nationals do not show more appreciation for my work," he said. "Appreciate my work means to increase the value of the contract and guarantee it. I will not accept any minor league contracts with no safeguards. I instructed my agent to report my position to the Nationals." Perez said he isn't talking with any other teams. Since he is technically under contract, even if he hasn't signed the agreement, no other teams are going to start talking to him.
