Scott Podsednik | Outfielder

TEAM: Kansas City Royals
HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 6'2' / 190
DOB: 3/18/1976
AGE:33
BATS/THROWS:Left / Left
 Rick Ankiel-OF- RoyalsJan. 25 - 5:40 pm et
Rick Ankiel will be Kansas City's starting center fielder, while Jose Guillen is being shifted to designated hitter, according to GM Dayton Moore.
Scott Podsednik will take over in left field and last year's left fielder, David Dejesus, will move to right. The Royals apparently promised Ankiel the center field gig when they inked him to a one-year, $3.25 million contract Thursday. They might soon regret it. He boasts one of the best outfield arms in baseball, but he doesn't have great instincts in center and his range is poor.

Royals signed OF Scott Podsednik to a one-year, $1.75 million contract with a $2 million club option for 2011.
Podsednik doesn't belong on a team that is supposed to be building for the future, but at least Kansas City GM Dayton Moore didn't overpay. The 33-year-old batted a respectable .304/.353/.412 with seven homers last season and will bring speed to the top of the Royals' lineup.

Scott Podsednik's contract with the Royals includes an option for 2011.
Podsednik agreed to terms with the Royals early Friday morning and had his physical completed by Friday afternoon. The financial details have not been made available though it'd be shocking if his base salary in 2010 tops $2 million. The 33-year-old is a .277/.340/.381 career hitter.

Scott Podsednik is scheduled to take his physical for the Royals on Friday.
Podsednik agreed to terms on a contract with Kansas City on Friday morning and is expected to start in center field for the club in 2010. The financial terms of the deal have not yet been leaked though it'd be surprising if the contract tops $2 million. Podsednik, 33, batted .304/.353/.412 with seven homers and 30 stolen bases in 2009 but he's a .277/.340/.381 career hitter.

Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reports that the Royals have reached a preliminary agreement with outfielder Scott Podsednik.
And there it is. As Crasnick notes, Podsednik had been discussing one and even two-year deals with clubs this winter. Let's hope, for Kansas City fans, that his contract with the Royals is only for one year and worth just around $1 million. The 33-year-old outfielder had a nice comeback season in 2009 but he's not the answer to Dayton Moore and Co.'s woes.

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that outfielder Scott Podsednik has agreed to a contract with an unidentified team.
Royals GM Dayton Moore told 610 AM in Kansas City on Thursday evening that the club is very close to signing a "speed type player to add to our outfield." The 33-year-old Podsednik hit a respectable .304/.353/.412 with seven homers, 48 RBI and 30 stolen bases in 2009. Still, it doesn't make much sense for a supposed "rebuilding team" to ink an aging outfielder.
