White Sox optioned 3B Dayan Viciedo, C Cole Armstrong, RHP Jon Link and RHP Kelvin Jimenez to Triple-A Charlotte; optioned 1B Brandon Allen, RHP Jhonny Nunez and RHP Clevelan Santeliz to Double-A Birmingham; reassigned RHP Ryan Braun, INF Javier Castillo, C Tyler Flowers, RHP Franklyn German, OF Michael Restovich and RHP John Van Benschoten to minor league camp.
Plenty of familiar names here, but no one that had any real chance of making the team. The White Sox had to like the offensive potential Viciedo showed this spring, but he's going to have a tough time making it at third base. A switch to the outfield could be in his future. Allen, a possible first baseman of the future, went 4-for-13 with a homer and a triple. Flowers went 4-for-14, but that came with seven strikeouts. |
