Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Indians and Blue Jays are interested in free-agent first baseman Russell Branyan.
Both teams, however, are also interested in other hitters. Vanderbilt baseball coach Tim Corbin, who has seen Branyan work out recently, believes the veteran is healthy. "I see him every day in the weight room, doing all this core work," Corbin said. "I don’t know what the situation was with Seattle, but he looks good to me. He’s hitting every day with (Dan) Uggla and Khalil (Greene). I don’t see anything wrong." The 34-year-old Branyan hoped to receive a three-year deal this winter, but might now have to settle for a small one-year deal.

 Russell Branyan-1B - Mariners Feb. 5 - 6:08 pm et

A source tells Joe Frisaro of MLB.com that the Marlins "never even spoken with" free agent first baseman Russell Branyan.
We've heard conflicting reports this week whether the Marlins actually offered him a one-year, incentive-laden contract, but this should sufficiently snuff out the possibility. The 34-year-old Branyan hoped to receive a three-year deal this winter, but he clearly overplayed his hand off a career-season.

A baseball source told Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com that free agent first baseman Russell Branyan was seeking a three-year deal "somewhere between $20 million and $30 million."
It's no wonder he's still out of a job. Branyan, 34, batted .251/.347/.520 with a career-high 31 home runs and 76 RBI with the Mariners last season, productive numbers by any measure, but he may end up having to settle for a one-year, incentive-laden contract. The Marlins have been linked to Branyan this week, although he wouldn't be guaranteed a starting gig there.

Contradicting previous reports, sources tell the Miami Herald's Clark Spencer that the Marlins have not offered a contract to free agent Russell Branyan.
Jayson Stark of ESPN.com reported earlier Tuesday that an offer of a one-year, incentive-laden contract with a low base salary had been made to Branyan by Florida. "Not true," said a source close to Branyan. The Marlins, according to the report, are "kicking the tires" of a handful of left-handed bats off the bench.

Jayson Stark of ESPN.com reports that the Marlins have offered a contract to free agent first baseman Russell Branyan.
According to Stark, it's a one-year, incentive-laden contract with a low base salary. Branyan is still seeking an opportunity at more playing time and guaranteed money, but time is running out fast. He won't be promised anything in Florida, but could see considerable duty if the Marlins feel Gaby Sanchez and Logan Morrison aren't ready.

Free agent first baseman Russell Branyan told Jim Street of MLB.com that there are a "couple of teams" interested in him.
He declined to name the teams, but is confident that a Major League contract offer is on its way. "I would be crazy not to think any other way," Branyan said. "I hit 31 home runs and played well at first base. I'm not sure what to expect, but as I sit here right now, I expect to be playing in the Major Leagues next season." The 34-year-old first baseman batted .251/.347/.520 with a career-high 31 home runs and 76 RBI last season.
