 Alex Cora-SS- MetsAug. 18 - 5:45 pm et
Mets placed SS Alex Cora on the 15-day disabled list with torn thumb ligaments.
Cora will undergo separate surgeries to repair ligaments in both of his thumbs. He admirably played through the injury, the fact that he got 271 at-bats this season shows you what little depth the Mets have in their organization.

 Wilson Valdez-SS - Mets Aug. 18 - 2:58 pm et

Wilson Valdez will likely be called up from Triple-A Buffalo once Alex Cora goes on the disabled list.
Cora will miss the rest of the season in order to repair torn ligaments in both of his thumbs. Valdez hit .208/.269/.333 with three RBI in 24 at-bats with the Mets earlier this season. Don't expect any fantasy relevance here.

 Alex Cora-SS - Mets Aug. 17 - 10:01 pm et

Alex Cora will undergo season-ending surgery to repair torn ligaments in his both of his thumbs.
Cora had forgone surgery on his right thumb in May and opted to serve in a limited role instead, but now he decided he couldn't play through it anymore. Cora will have surgery performed on his right thumb by club doctor Andrew Weiland, wait five weeks, and then get surgery on his damaged left thumb. He'll likely be put on the DL soon.
