According to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Brewers spoke with Doug Davis' agent during the GM meetings.
The former Brewer went 9-14 with a 4.12 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP for the Diamondbacks in 2009. He's never been a shut-down arm, and never will be, but would probably be an asset on Milwaukee's current staff. The Brewers posted a 4.83 team ERA this season, one of the highest marks in the league.

 Doug Davis-S - Diamondbacks Oct. 4 - 5:23 pm et

Doug Davis threw eight innings of two-run ball to defeat the Cubs on Sunday.
He struck out five, walked two, and gave up six hits. Davis ends up 9-14 with a 4.12 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP. The ERA is his best figure since joining Arizona in 2007, but with WHIPs consistently in the 1.50s he's essentially worthless from a roto perspective.

Doug Davis was charged with three runs over 7 2/3 innings against the Giants on Wednesday night, but suffered a no-decision in an eventual 4-3 loss.
Davis held the Giants to just three hits over the first seven innings, but it all unraveled for him in the eighth, as he left the game after 98 pitches with two runners on. A.J. Hinch called on Chad Qualls to get out of the jam, but he served up a go-ahead three-run homer to Bengie Molina to deny Davis the win. All told, Davis yielded just four hits against four walks and five strikeouts. He carries a 3.75 ERA into his next start against the Dodgers.

Doug Davis held the Dodgers to three runs -- two earned -- over six innings Saturday as the Diamondbacks picked up an extra innings victory.
Davis is still on the trading block and continues to improve his value. He scattered six hits while picking up two strikeouts against a brutally tough Dodgers lineup. His ERA fell from 3.62 to 3.59 and his WHIP dropped. Davis would make for a solid fourth or fifth starter on a number of contending teams.

According to Steve Gilbert of MLB.com, Doug Davis is seeking a three-year extension from the Diamondbacks.
The D'Backs offered Davis some sort of contract extension after the Brewers put a waiver claim on him earlier this week. It clearly didn't appease the left-hander's wishes. "I'm still looking for the three-year deal I was looking for two months ago," he said. "If I can't come to terms on that then I'll test the free agent market." He is 7-10 with a 3.62 ERA in 144 1/3 innings.

The deadline for the Brewers and Diamondbacks to work out a trade for Doug Davis has passed.
Davis had been claimed by the Brewers and had 48 hours to work out some sort of deal, but the window has closed without any word from either club. There are reports that Davis might have been offered an extension by the D'Backs, but for now it appears he'll remain on the team at least through the end of this year.
