According to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, it would be a "huge upset" if Mark Mulder doesn't attempt his comeback with the Brewers.
The stars seem to be aligned considering Mulder's relationship with new pitching coach Rick Peterson. The 32-year-old southpaw missed the entire 2009 season rehabbing from shoulder surgery. Mulder hasn't pitched a full season in the major leagues since 2005, but he would be a low-cost gamble for the Brewers, who plan to upgrade their starting pitching this winter.

According to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Brewers general manager Doug Melvin has contacted Mark Mulder's agent.
Plagued by shoulder problems, Mulder missed the entire 2009 season and hasn't pitched a full season since 2005. Melvin reached out to Mulder's agent Gregg Clifton, but has yet to hear back. Milwaukee figures to be a good match for the 32-year-old left-hander now that Rick Peterson is the new pitching coach. Peterson, who was Mulder's pitching coach with the Athletics, worked to help correct his mechanics during his rehab this season.

Mark Mulder (shoulder) has opted not to return, according to the Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo.
The decision was made with minor league baseball wrapping up, depriving Mulder of opportunities to show teams what he has. He'll play winter ball and fish around for a minor league pact.

Mark Mulder is in the final stages of his rehab, reports the Boston Globe.
Mulder is working with the former Mets and A's pitching coach, Rick Peterseon. He is already doing bullpens, so could appear in a game in short order. Perhaps the Red Sox, desperate for arms, will give him a look.

Free agent Mark Mulder could be close to holding an open bullpen session for interested teams.
The A's are one team that has their eye on Mulder, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. With a mostly-untested rotaton, Oakland could be interested in bringing back the veteran lefty if he shows he's healthy. "I'd love to be out there, but what I was doing the last couple of years wasn't fair to me and it wasn't fair to the Cardinals, and I'm not going to do that to another team," Mulder told The Chronicle. "I'm not going to say I'm ready to roll and sign with someone until I can repeat side sessions and repeat them again with no issues, no doubt in my head, no setbacks."

Free agent left-hander Mark Mulder believes his arm angle is almost as high now as it was during his prime.
Mulder has been working with Arizona therapist Joe Hipp this offseason in his attempt at a comeback. New Brewers manager Ken Macha remembers Mulder fondly from their time together in Oakland but couldn't say whether the Brew Crew would make an offer. It shouldn't take much to land him.
