Rangers sent RHP Kazuo Fukumori outright to Triple-A Oklahoma.
Fukumori had allowed just two runs and six hits in 11 innings for Oklahoma, but no one took on his contract after the Rangers passed him through waivers to open up a 40-man roster spot. The Rangers are sure to give him another opportunity later on.

Rangers optioned RHP Kazuo Fukumori to Triple-A Oklahoma.
Fukumori was lit up in two of his three appearances, surrendering six runs in 1 2/3 innings in all. Regular work will be available to him in Triple-A and should help.

Kosuke Fukumori got just one out and allowed three runs Friday in relief versus Toronto.
The Rangers seemed to have a lot of confidence in Fukumori at the end of the spring, but he's been a bust so far, allowing six runs in 1 2/3 innings over three appearances. The club does have the option of sending him down if he continues to struggle.

Kazuo Fukumori was charged with three runs in one-third of an inning Monday against the Mariners in his major league debut.
Of the three relievers imported from Japan by AL teams, Fukumori was the most impressive this spring. However, with nerves possibly playing a role, he couldn't throw strkes tonight. He walked two, one intentionally, and threw two wild pitches. 12 of his 21 pitches were balls.

Kazuo Fukumori turned in a perfect inning on Tuesday and has yet to allow an earned run in six innings this spring.
He's given up four hits, walked none and struck out six. It's possible that Fukumori could find himself in the closer's role at the beginning of the year if C.J. Wilson has a setback as he attempts to overcome biceps tendinitis. He's definitely outpitched Eddie Guardado so far.

Rangers signed RHP Kazuo Fukumori to a two-year contract with a club option for 2010.
He said he'd like to be known as 'Kaz' going forward. Fukumori is coming off a poor year (4.75 ERA) and minor surgery to his right elbow, so he could have stayed in Japan and attempted to rebuild his value. Instead, he took a very cheap deal to compete for a late-inning role in Texas. His performance in spring training will determine whether he's a sleeper in AL-only leagues.

According to the Dallas Morning News, Kazuo Fukumori's two-year contract with the Rangers is worth $3 million and includes a team option for 2010.
A very reasonable deal for the Rangers, who are set to officially announce the signing Friday afternoon. Fukumori struggled some in 2007 while dealing with elbow problems, but should slide into a late-inning setup role for Texas and could potentially be in the mix to close with Akinori Otsuka gone.

FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal reports that the Rangers and Kazuo Fukumori have come to terms on a two-year, $3 million contract.
If that's the best Fukumori could do, he must have really wanted to pitch in the U.S. It would have made a lot more sense to stay in Japan for another season and try to rebuild his value. The 31-year-old is coming off an off year in which he had a 4.76 ERA. He has to be considered a sleeper for saves in Texas, but while the opportunity might be there, he's not as good of a bet as the other two Japanese relievers to come over this winter.

The Yankees met with Kazuo Fukumori's agent on Wednesday and could bid for the Japanese reliever.
"The Yankees got into it late," agent Alan Nero said. "We've given them our medical information and a DVD of his pitching. I don't know to what stage that brings them to." Nero indicated that there are 10 teams interested in Fukumori. The Red Sox might be one of them, says the Boston Herald. The 31-year-old figures to get a two-year deal.

The Pittsburgh Post Gazette reports that the Pirates are interested in Japanese reliever Kazuo Fukumori.
General manager Neal Huntington said Wednesday that the team is "in negotiations" with several relievers. A 31-year-old right-hander, Fukumori is coming off a poor season in Japan that saw him post a 4.75 ERA before having bone chips removed from his elbow.

The Padres are attempting to sign Japanese reliever Kazuo Fukumori.
The Rays were also interested in Fukumori, but perhaps that's changed with them deep into talks with Troy Percival and seemingly about to land Juan Rincon. Fukumori, 31, is coming off a poor year in Japan (4.75 ERA). He might get the same kind of deal Yasuhiko Yabuta did.

Kazuo Fukumori said he wanted to play in the U.S. after filing for free agency on Wednesday.
Fukumori is already in the country as he completes his rehab from August surgery to remove bone chips from his elbow. Fukumori, a 31-year-old closer, had a poor final year in Japan (4.75 ERA) and struggles with his command. He could surprise, but he doesn't seem like as good of a bet as some of the other Japanese relievers likely to cross the Pacific.
