Patriots signed LB Eric Alexander to a one-year contract extension for $700,000 and a $125,000 signing bonus.
It's a reward for the core special teamer's solid play. The extension could push to $1.5 million, but Alexander would have to earn more defensive playing time to earn the incentives.

Patriots released ILB Eric Alexander.
Alexander, a special teamer, is the fourth player the Pats have released in the last two days. They needed two roster spots for the two players coming off their PUP list (Brandon Tate and Mark LeVoir), but rumors are also flying they are making room for a trade.

Patriots agreed to terms with ILB Eric Alexander on a one-year, $620,000 deal.

Patriots placed LB Eric Alexander on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, ending his season. They activated rookie LB Vince Redd from the practice squad to replace him.
The Patriots hoped the usual special teamer was expected to see increased playing time this year, but he was only healthy for one game all year. He's a restricted free agent and will be battling for a roster spot next season.

Patriots signed exclusive rights free agent LB Eric Alexander.
Alexander looks the part, but hasn't evolved into more than a special teams player. He's New England's fifth or sixth option at inside linebacker as it stands, and could be pushed off the roster by rookie Bo Ruud.

The Patriots tendered exclusive rights free agent LB Eric Alexander, S Ray Ventrone, OT Wesley Britt, and OLB Pierre Woods.
Alexander and Woods may both be in line for increased playing time this year. Ventrone is a valuable special teamer. Britt is a reserve with upside.

Patriots re-signed linebacker Eric Alexander, an exclusive rights free agent, to a one-year contract.
Alexander made a start in the playoffs last season and finished with 11 tackles and a sack but wasn't reliable at stopping the run. The Patriots don't appear willing to gamble too much by putting a lot on his plate this season.

Patriots LB Eric Alexander made his first career start Sunday, and led the Patriots with ten tackles and a sack.
The second-year undrafted free agent out of LSU could be a major part of New England's defensive plans next season at inside linebacker. They are very thin at the position and may wish they made this move earlier.
