Broncos owner Pat Bowlen said he would like Brandon Marshall to remain with the team.
"And there's still a good possibility that could happen," Bowlen said. The owner said that he thinks Marshall matured this season, but added that he would not veto any trade that coach Josh McDaniels thinks benefits the team. The trading period opens on March 5 and we'll see how much teams are willing to give for someone with questionable character.

CBS analyst Shannon Sharpe insists he's knows "personally there are three teams out there who are going to make a move for Brandon Marshall."
There's no question that several receiver-needy teams will be intrigued by Marshall despite his baggage. But will they be willing to give up a first-round pick (or more) while also committing to an expensive long-term deal for a major character risk?

An apparently contrite Brandon Marshall said Thursday that he's open to playing for the Broncos next season.
"Last year I handled things totally wrong," admitted Marshall. "I just looked at the business side of things and took things too personally." Marshall is attempting to repair his image, but the Broncos would clearly prefer to trade him this offseason. Perhaps Marshall's agent has finally made it clear that his best way to get a contract extension is to play the role of the good soldier.

Beat writer Matt Maiocco expects the 49ers to have "absolutely" no interest in trading for Brandon Marshall.
This isn't surprising. The Niners spent a first-round pick on Michael Crabtree last season, so they're not ready to give up another high pick for a wide receiver. Throw in Marshall's major character concerns, and he makes for a risky long-term investment.

Beat writer Mike Preston believes it will be a "surprising" if the Ravens make a play for Brandon Marshall this offseason.
We tend to agree. Owner Steve Bisciotti is willing to take a risk on "first-time offenders," but he's much more leery of repeat offenders. Marshall has had problems with coaches Mike Shanahan and Josh McDaniels the past two years, both of them growing tired of his antics on and off the field. He's simply too big of a character risk for the likely first-round (or more) asking price.

Champ Bailey said that he would be surprised if Brandon Marshall is back with the Broncos next season.
The majority of Denver beat writers seem very confident that Marshall will be dealt shortly after NFL free agency opens on March 5 as well. As beat writer Mike Klis puts it, "the next time Marshall and the Broncos go to work for each other, their business is expected to appear on the transaction wire." It's going to be almost impossible for the Broncos to get equal value for their stud receiver, so we're not calling a trade a foregone conclusion yet.

According to the Denver Post, Brandon Marshall is expected to be traded shortly after NFL free agency opens on March 5.
The Broncos' leverage is somewhat damaged after a Week 17 blowout between Marshall and coach Josh McDaniels. Throw in Marshall's major character concerns, and the team will have trouble getting anywhere close to full value for their restricted free agent. Marshall isn't talking during this week's Pro Bowl practices, saying he's "had enough publicity." Smart.

Nate Burleson stirred some Brandon Marshall rumors by posting this on his Twitter page: "I heard about Brandon Marshall possible coming hear but I won't believe til I see it. He is a monster though!"
We doubt Burleson has inside info on the what's going on behind closed doors in Seattle; he's probably just speculating like the rest of us. A free agent, Burleson isn't even signed with Seattle in 2010 and wouldn't return as a starter if he did re-sign and the Seahawks traded for Marshall. The team overpaid for T.J. Houshmandzadeh just last offseason, and we doubt Pete Carroll's first priority is the receiver position.

Beat writer Roy Cummings says the Bucs aren't interested in trading for Brandon Marshall.
The Bucs could use a big, talented receiver like Marshall to pair with Josh Freeman, but they won't want to deal with the headaches Marshall brings. The Broncos surely aren't concerned, though. When the trading period opens in March, Marshall is sure to draw a ton of interest around the league.

Brandon Marshall had nothing but good things to say about the Broncos during a radio appearence Monday.
"I'm nothing but 100 percent committed to the Denver Broncos, to my teammates," Marshall said. Marshall went on to say "it's not up to him" when asked if he wants to return to Denver. This is probably just a case of Marshall saying the right things to make himself more appealing in a trade.

Brandon Marshall cleaned out his locker immediately after the Broncos' season, removing his nameplate and all.
"It's empty," beat writer Frank Schwab observed, adding that the move "left quite a message." Marshall is headed to restricted free agency, but is likely to go directly on the trade block. The trading period opens in early March.

Broncos declared WR Brandon Marshall, WR Eddie Royal, TE Tony Scheffler, P Britton Colquitt, OL Tom Brandstater, RB LaMont Jordan and DL Chris Baker inactive for Week 17 against the Chiefs.
Kyle Orton will be without his top three receivers as the Broncos try to keep their playoff hopes alive.

ESPN's Ed Werder reports that Brandon Marshall was specifically benched in Week 17 for being late to a therapy session for his strained hamstring.
Marshall pulled the hammy on Wednesday and declared himself unfit to play against the Chiefs. Coach Josh McDaniels, however, indicated that other Broncos were playing through more serious injuries and deactivated Marshall in retaliation. Marshall, along with TE Tony Scheffler, were not even permitted on the sidelines Sunday. Scheffler was allegedly overheard telling teammates that he "couldn't wait for Denver's season to end."

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Brandon Marshall is "gone" if the Broncos are offered a first- and third-round pick for him this offseason.
Schefter adds that "It's possible, even likely" that Marshall has played his last down in a Denver uniform. Marshall is headed for restricted free agency in the offseason, but will still be in search of a big-time contract extension no matter whose roster he's on. With the unrestricted free agent market slated to be poorer than ever, however, the trade market could blow up. Marshall, 25, is definitely going to draw interest.

Brandon Marshall (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 17 against the Chiefs because of a coach's decision.
Coach Josh McDaniels interestingly said it was an accountability issue and Marshall didn't want to play through his hamstring injury. The loss is a major blow to Denver's offensive arsenal, as Marshall is the team's only weapon at wide receiver. It could also impact long-term contract negotiations.

According to the Denver Post, Brandon Marshall (hamstring) remains "somewhat of a question mark" for Sunday.
If he does play, Marshall will likely be at less than full strength. Rookie Matthew Willis could be signed from the practice squad, which wouldn't bode well for Marshall's chances of making a significant impact against the Chiefs.

Brandon Marshall (hamstring) missed practice Thursday, as expected.
Marshall will likely miss practice again Friday, as the Broncos try to get him rested up for Sunday's season finale. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Marshall is expected to play against the Chiefs, though he'll obviously be at less than full strength.

Brandon Marshall (hamstring) will not practice on Thursday.
Coach Josh McDaniels says it's too early to know if Marshall will be able to go on Sunday. However, there have been a handful of reports out there saying that Marshall is expected to start against the Chiefs. The Broncos play at 4:15 ET on Sunday and Marshall could be looking at a game-time decision.

Brandon Marshall is expected to play Sunday against the Chiefs, a Broncos source told NFL Network's Mike Lombardi.
Marshall pulled his hamstring in Wednesday's practice, but the injury clearly isn't serious. He already caught seven balls for 94 yards and a score against K.C. once this season and should be in line for another big game on Sunday. Marshall has 101 catches for 1,120 yards and ten TDs on the year.

CBS 4 Denver reports that Brandon Marshall suffered a potentially severe pull or strain of his hamstring in Wednesday's practice.
The injury is to Marshall's right leg. The contract-year wideout came up limping at the end of a drill and had to be tended to by Broncos medical staff. He did not return to finish out practice. Marshall's loss would likely be a death blow to the Broncos' hopes of advancing in the playoffs. He is essentially the only pass catcher Josh McDaniels consistently calls plays for.
