Chris Osgood turned aside 18 of the 20 shots he faced in Detroit's 2-1 overtime loss to Florida Friday evening.
Despite a slow start to the season, Osgood had started to play better before he missed the Red Wings' last three games due to a virus of some sort. With the loss Friday night Osgood's record falls to 6-3-3. Jimmy Howard has also started to play well and is scheduled to start Saturday. Consider the Wings' goaltending situation a job share for the time being.

Chris Osgood (flu) will be back in net on Friday.
Osgood has missed the last four games with the flu. Jimmy Howard played well during Osgood's absence and will get the start in goal on Saturday. Look for Osgood to play in 50-55 games this season and Howard to get the rest.

Chris Osgood was back on the ice on Tuesday, but will likely not suit up on Wednesday night.
He had been off the ice for five days prior to Tuesday's session, while struggling with a flu-like sickness. Minor-league goalie Daniel Larsson said that the Red Wings called him very early on Tuesday morning (around 1:00 a.m.) and he drove up to Detroit from Grand Rapids. Larsson will serve as Jimmy Howard's backup on Wednesday night.

Chris Osgood is still not feeling well and did not skate on Monday.
He has missed the Wings' past three games with an illness. "Ozzie came in and skated and thought he was on the right track," said coach Mike Babcock. "But today he was a disaster. So, I don't know what is going on there." If he is unable to dress then Detroit will call up Daniel Larsson to serve as Jimmy Howard's backup on Wednesday.

Chris Osgood allowed five goals on 28 shots in Detroit's 5-1 loss to the Leafs Saturday.
Saturday's game was the Hall of Fame game, with the newest inductee's being introduced prior to the game. Steve Yzerman, Brian Leetch, Brett Hull, Luc Robitaille and Lou Lamoriello were all in attendance.

Chris Osgood stopped 33 of 34 shots and both in the shootout as Detroit defeated San Jose 2-1 on Thursday.
Osgood has been sensational in his past three games as he has given up only two goals in 84 shots. Osgood ups his record to 6-2-2 on the season. He now has a 2.54 GAA and a .910 save percentage, a huge difference from last season's poor 3.09 GAA and .887 save percentage. Osgood is now a must start in fantasy pools.

Chris Osgood kicked out all 29 Boston shots in Detroit's 2-0 win Tuesday night.
Now that's more like it. Osgood seems to be back on the beam as he has allowed only one goal in his last two starts. The Red Wings are playing excellent defensive hockey at the moment and as a result, Osgood is once again a viable fantasy option.

Chris Osgood stopped all but one shot in the Wings 3-1 victory over the Flames Saturday.
Osgood made 20 saves in the win. Detroit held Calgary's power play scoreless on two opportunities. Osgood redeemed himself after giving up two goals on only four shots on Tuesday against the Canucks. He is now 4-2-2 on the season.

Chris Osgood will be back between the pipes on Saturday.
Osgood last played on Tuesday against the Canucks and gave up two goals on only four shots. "I feel good," Osgood said. "I have to play better than I did in Vancouver, but it was only (seven) minutes. I would have hoped to stay in but I didn't get that opportunity. I have to let that go and move on."

Chris Osgood turned aside 30 of 33 shots but the Red Wings fell in overtime 3-2 to the Coyotes.
The Wings’ loss must hurt, not only because of their opponent, but considering Osgood fanned on the game winning goal.

Chis Osgood is expected to start on Thursday in the desert against the Coyotes.
After that coach Mike Babcock said the plan is to rotate starts between Osgood and backup Jimmy Howard throughout the rest of the five-game road trip. However, he did add that that decision could change. Stay tuned.

Chris Osgood gave up three goals in the third period as the Colorado Avalanche beat the Detroit Red Wings 4-3 in a shootout on Saturday.
It was not a good third period for the veteran netminder. He was perfect on 13 shots in the first two periods. Osgood gave up shoot out goals to Marek Svatos and Milan Hejduk as his record dropped to 3-2-1.

Chris Osgood will get the start in goal for Detroit on Saturday.
Osgood's gets his fifth straight start. Coach Mike Babcock said that backup Jimmy Howard would get a start during the Red Wings upcoming five game road trip that starts Thursday in Phoenix and ends on Halloween night in Calgary. "We're still planning to play Ozzie about 50 games," Babcock said. "I said this before, 'Ozzie can buy Howie some time to be around NHL shooters every day.' I think he's been really good in practice. I think playing on the road sometimes is less pressure, you just get out there and relax." Osgood is 3-2 this season with a pedestrian 3.31 GAA and a .884 save percentage. He needs to pick up those stats to have fantasy value in any pool.

Chris Osgood will start in goal against the Kings Thursday despite being pulled on Tuesday against the Sabres.
Osgood is just 2-2 with a .874 save percentage and 3.68 GAA to start the season. Does this sound familiar? Osgood stumbled through much of the regular season last year before morphing into a brick wall in the post-season.

Chris Osgood was pulled in the Red Wings 6-2 loss to the Buffalo Sabres.
Osgood stopped 17 of the 22 shots he faced, before being yanked for Jimmy Howard. The backup restored some calm saving 14 of 15. This isn't anything new from Osgood. He's prone to getting lit up early in the season.

Chris Osgood kicked out 22 of 24 shots in a 3-2 victory over Washington on Saturday.
One of the two goals Osgood allowed was scored during a Capitals' power play. Although we wouldn't read too much into any goaltenders numbers this early into the season, it's nice to see Osgood with back-to-back solid performances against Chicago and Washington. Osgood was phenomenal in the 2009 playoffs but he had a terrible 3.09 GAA and .887 save percentage last season. With Jimmy Howard breathing down his neck, Osgood needs to have a good October to avoid falling into a platoon situation.

Chris Osgood will get the start in goal for Detroit on Saturday.
Osgood will face the powerful Washington Capitals. It could be a long night in net for Osgood. You might want to take a pass on putting Osgood in your lineup if you have daily transactions as he will face Alex Ovechkin, Alexander Semin, Nicklas Backstrom and the rest of the omnipotent Capitals offense.

Chris Osgood saved 32 of 34 shots in a 3-2 win over the Blackhawks Thursday night.
Osgood will continue to hold off Jimmy Howard and justifiably so. He's a big game performer, and will only continue to get better over the course of the season.
