Cotton & Orange Bowl Preview

Friday, January 3, 2014

Cotton Bowl: Missouri vs. Oklahoma State, 8:00 on Fox

Discussed in the video:

- Missouri’s pass rush, featuring senior DE Michael Sam and DL Kony Ealy. Discussed Sam’s leverage and dip/rip move on the edge. I would not be surprised to see Ealy as a top-15 selection thanks to ability to win on the outside or inside.

- Oklahoma State CB Justin Gilbert has a tough assignment, facing massive Missouri receivers on the edge. The Cowboys’ aggressive defense has elevated his game this season, however.

- Prediction: Missouri.

Orange Bowl: Clemson vs. Ohio State, 8:30 on ESPN

Discussed in the video:

- I am still a fan of Clemson QB Tajh Boyd. He moves a lot in the pocket, sometimes it is necessary other times not, but he will be looking for Sammy Watkins early and often.

- Ohio State will be without redshirt junior CB Bradley Roby, but they have used LB Ryan Shazier effectively as a blitzer in the last few months. Keeping Boyd on the move is critical.

- Ohio State junior QB Braxton Miller is still considering his NFL decision. I am shocked by this, but it seems like he wants to leave and is receiving advice to stay. I do not see him more than a third- to fifth-round pick.

- Prediction: Ohio State, with Carlos Hyde being a huge factor.
