Welcome to Playing the Tips!

Each week this will be the one-stop resource to soak in all the picks from our fantasy staffers at

Here is a quick rundown of what sites and formats we will cover each week:

Page 1 will feature all of our selections for and Yahoo! Fantasy Golf.

Page 2 will go over One-and-Done as well as Daily Fantasy Golf picks.

Page 3 will take a look at the European Tour, with the Fantasy Race to Dubai.

Before we look ahead, Mo Yoshimoto takes a look at last week's action in his Memorial Tournament Recap.

Now for the picks... Fantasy Golf

Last Week Rank: 6,708

Phil Mickelson ($33,100)
Peter Uihlein ($17,800)
Ben Martin ($13,900)
Scott Stallings ($11,800)
Nick Watney ($10,800)
Camilo Villegas ($10,700)

ANALYSIS:  Took a stand with Mickelson at the top, which left my remaining salary in the dumps. Thought Uihlein was underpriced and Villegas has loads of course history. Ben Martin grabs my attention whenever we see bermuda greens. Stallings has Tennessee ties and plenty of course experience under his belt.

Ryan O’Sullivan

Last Week: 308.5 points

Last Week Rank: 5,720

Kyle Stanley ($23,400)
Fabian Gomez ($17,700)
Stewart Cink ($16,200)
Kevin Tway ($15,400)
Seung-yul Noh ($15,000)
Ben Crane ($8,600)

ANALYSIS:  Crane, Gomez, and Noh bring in good course history while Stanley, Tway, and Cink bring the recent form.

Mori Yoshimoto

Last Week: 321.0 points

Last Week Rank: 4,868

Brooks Koepka ($33,200)

Harold Varner III ($19,900)

Seung-Yul Noh ($15,000)

Scott Stallings ($11,800)

Sam Saunders ($11,300)

Shawn Stefani ($8,800)

ANALYSIS: Mo's strategy this week appears to be stacking as many 'S' names as possible. In all seriousness, he mixes course history and recent form here with a heavy emphasis on course history.

This week's Strategy: Pretty calm weather this week, so I'm not worried about starting tee-time waves. Given the huge dropoff in field strength, I am perfectly fine ignoring tee-time waves entirely. With the U.S. Open on deck, one potential strategy would be to target golfers that are on the bubble of earning their way in. I wouldn't lean to heavily on that myself, but it is a possibility.

Group A

Rickie Fowler (7): Playing great golf and we've seen him win before a major before (2015 Scottish Open).

Adam Scott (4): He doesn't play frequently enough to worry about saving starts. I will start with Scott in Round 1 and plan to play him rounds 2 and 4, as well.

Graeme McDowell, Smylie Kaufman

Group B

Francesco Molinari (5): Not many studs in Group B this week, but Molinari has plenty of top-20 potential.

Phil Mickelson (6): Has three podiums in his last four starts here. Still hasn't won at TPC Southwind, but this could be the week.

Kevin Chappell (10): Found his groove when he switched back to his old clubs at the Masters. Looks like normal Chappell since then. Given our options in Group B, he's a pretty easy choice.

Sung Kang (8): Debated a high-upside but out of form Russell Knox or William McGirt who is in better form but not as much upside. Ultimately went with the hot hand, Kang, who has played well enough this season to pick up a win. Don't want to miss out on that bonus if he finally pops this week but I'm not planning on heavy usage here. I plan on starting Phil in all four rounds and alternating the other three in and out.

Russell Knox, William McGirt, Jim Furyk

Group C
Peter Uihlein (10): A lot of decent options in Group C so I'm hoping Uihlein gets overlooked. He qualified for the U.S. Open via sectional qualifying but he's not going to let this rare sponsor's invite goto waste.

Brooks Koepka (7): Went to check out Erin Hills on Tuesday which says he's fully ready for TPC Southwind or it says he doesn't care about TPC Southwind. Given his track record of T19-T3-T2 here in three tries, I think he's ready to battle this course with minimal prepartions.

Daniel Berger, Charl Schwartzel, Ryan Palmer
