Expert Picks: John Deere

Tuesday, July 11, 2017

Welcome to Playing the Tips!

Each week this will be the one-stop resource to soak in all the picks from our fantasy staffers at Rotoworld.com.

Here is a quick rundown of what sites and formats we will cover each week:

Page 1 will feature all of our selections for GolfChannel.com and Yahoo! Fantasy Golf.

Page 2 will go over One-and-Done as well as Daily Fantasy Golf picks.

Page 3 will take a look at the European Tour, with the Fantasy Race to Dubai.

Before we look ahead, Mo Yoshimoto takes a look at last week's action in his Greenbrier Classic Recap.

Now for the picks...

Robert Streb ($22,000)
Patrick Rodgers ($17,900)
Ben Martin ($16,800)
Matt Jones ($15,000)
Geoff Ogilvy ($15,400)
Curtis Luck ($12,800)

ANALYSIS:  The price is increasing on Luck, but I will keep riding the hot streak. Rodgers considers this a semi-home game since it's somewhat close to Indy and the event gave him a chance early in his career. Ogilvy has shown some signs of life lately while Robert Streb should enjoy a return to the Midwest.

Brian Harman ($33,200)
Ben Martin ($16,800)
Trey Mullinax ($14,200)
Brandon Hagy ($13,400)
Curtis Luck ($12,800)
Jonathan Byrd ($7,800)

ANALYSIS:  A mix of course history (Harman, Martin, Byrd) with form/upside (Mullinax, Hagy, Luck). A rare week we see Byrd this year since he's been spending his time on the Web.com circuit trying to play his way back up to the big stage.

Last Week: 276.0 points

Last Week Rank: 7,206

Chez Reavie ($22,700)

Kelly Kraft ($19,500)

Ben Martin ($16,800)

Trey Mullinax ($14,200)

Brandon Hagy ($13,400)

Nick Watney ($12,800)

ANALYSIS: Kraft, Hagy, and Mullinax are a talented trio that has yet to breakout, but all three appear to be improving. Reavie, Martin, and Watney can all take it low with the best of them.

*Make sure you check our Twitter accounts for any updates before the first tee ball flies on Thursday. Change in weather, tee times, etc. can always lead to last-minute changes and we will let you know through our social media channels.

This week's Strategy: Winds look to be a non-factor this week, but potential Thursday storms could wreck havoc on one wave. It's not clear what wave, or if the storms will even hit the course, but that's something to keep an eye on. Otherwise, it's plug-and-play with the best available options this week.

Group A

Kevin Streelman (10)A rare week where Kevin Streelman is the headliner in Group A. He's in good form and has a pair of top 10s on his JDC resume.

Alex Cejka (10): Always a WD threat but when he lasts the entire week he has that go-low potential that makes him worth a look in the Yahoo scoring format.

=SUPER SUBS =

Smylie Kaufman, Vaughn Taylor

Group B

Steve Stricker (10): A three-time winner at TPC Deere Run. Don't overthink this one.

Bubba Watson (8): Will start him on the bench but I'm going to roster him just in case he finds that spark. The Bubba Watson from the past five years would be a near lock for a top 5 against a field like this one.

Kevin Na (6): Has found his iron game since returning from South Korea. Has top 15s in each of his last two starts at TPC Deere Run.

Kevin Kisner (8): He never got off my bench last week, but I think this week's course suits him even better. I will give Na the starting nod this week (due to AM tee time) but plan on moving Kisner in for rounds 2 thru 4.

=SUPER SUBS=
Danny Lee, Charles Howell III, Charley Hoffman, Daniel Summerhays

Group C
Zach Johnson (7): Has finished third or better in six of his last eight starts at the John Deere Classic. Just like the Stricker pick, don't overthink this one.

Brian Harman (10): Looking at this season's stats, nobody has averaged more Yahoo Bonus points in Group C than Harman. He has three podium finishes including a win. He also boasts a win on his JDC resume.

=SUPER SUBS=
Daniel Berger, Kyle Stanley, Ben Martin
