May Catcher RankingsMonday, May 02, 2011
Welcome to the May rankings. Players are ranked based on how much value I believe they'll provide in 5x5 leagues over the rest of the season. Along with the position rankings, you'll find a fully updated top 250 list.

Brayan Pena (No. 37)
Martinez is expected back from his groin strain on Wednesday, so get him active this week.Mauer should return before much longer, but given that he's lost some strength due to his viral infection, I'm not sure we'll see much power from him anytime soon. I strongly considered ranking him behind Santana as well. Even though Posada is batting just .133, I couldn't see dropping him significantly. The power is still there, obviously, and while he'll lose some starts to Eric Chavez in the short-term, I don't think they Yankees are going to pull the plug on him.I'm happy to see Ramos starting over Rodriguez in Washington, but I don't think he's anywhere near this good of a hitter. My guess is that he'll maintain a solid average, but that he won't reach double figures in homers. For what it's worth, I had him at .269-5-32 in 290 at-bats in my preseason projections.Catchers
