Week Ahead: Treasure Trove

Friday, August 9, 2013

Jump-start your weekend by competing against Rotoworld writers and fellow fantasy minds in the Rotoworld $500 Friday Fantasy Baseball League. Entry is only $10 and you'll have a shot at big cash prizes. For just one dollar, you can also participate in FanDuel's $555,555 King of the Diamond Tournament, the biggest one-day fantasy baseball contest ever. As always, don't forget to maintain your edge by following @Rotoworld_BB on Twitter.

The lists of two-start pitchers in the past few weeks have been a little underwhelming, but that trend comes to a halt in The Week Ahead. You'll find the group below littered with All-Stars and big names such as Chris Sale, Max Scherzer, Yu Darvish, Travis Wood, Mat Latos, Madison Bumgarner, Adam Wainwright and Gio Gonzalez.

A few notes on some guys further down the list...

* Scott Feldman has a 5.70 ERA since being traded to the American League, but perhaps he will find himself more at home this week when he faces two NL opponents.

* Strikeout machine Danny Salazar has made only a couple MLB starts but merits consideration even with two starts on the road. Between the minors and majors this year, he has fanned 146 hitters in 106 innings.

* Wade Miley, who starts twice for the Diamondbacks, has not allowed more than three runs in a start since May. He's available in a sizable share of leagues.

* Marco Estrada looked great in his return from an extended layoff, but I'm staying away from those match-ups against the Rangers and Reds.

Streamer City

The following pitchers are generally available in over 50 percent of fantasy leagues and have favorable match-ups this week:

American League

Tuesday, 8/13: Zach McAllister @ MIN
McAllister has made 14 starts this year and has allowed more than three earned runs in only one of them.

Thursday, 8/15: Erasmo Ramirez @ TB
The promising young hurler has seemingly been improving with every start after a clunky season debut.

National League

Wednesday, 8/14: Jorge De La Rosa vs. SD
The lefty surprisingly remains unowned in a majority of leagues despite his 10 wins and 3.31 ERA. He's been especially effective at Coors.

Thursday, 8/15: Tyson Ross vs. NYM
Since hopping into the rotation in late July, Ross is 3-for-3 on quality starts, with 22 strikeouts in 20 innings.

Friday, 8/16: Alex Wood vs. WAS
The rookie has been outstanding this year, whether pitching out of the bullpen or rotation. Yet another Atlanta success story.
