  • Adams has been about as productive as any first baseman in the league over the last month, but I’m not sure it makes sense to push his ranking much higher when he’s not playing against lefties and he still has Brandon Moss to contend with against righties. Both of those guys would be considerably more valuable if one were traded.

  • It sure seems like the Phillies would be better off releasing Howard and going with Joseph at first base, but that’s a bigger step forward than the franchise is willing to take at the moment. I’m not sure Joseph would be a mixed-league first baseman anyway as a regular, but his chances are a heck of a lot better than Howard’s.

  • If the A’s remain patient enough, Alonso will likely get his OBP up to the point at which he’s an adequate regular for the team. Still, he’s been positively dreadful so far, and the A’s do have Muncy hitting .289/.393/.486 in 142 at-bats in Triple-A. I’m not confident Muncy would be of much use in fantasy leagues, either, but one couldn’t blame the A’s for giving him a try.
