  • I was all prepared to move Daniel Murphy into the top 10 with his return imminent, but there still seem to be some serious questions about whether his surgically repaired knee is going to hold up. From the sound of things, he might have his rehab shut down for a spell. An alternative would be for the Nationals to bring him back as a part-timer, but it doesn’t sound like they want to go that route, at least not yet.

  • Rougned Odor is an uncomfortable ranking at the moment. The bat is showing signs of coming around and the Rangers have stuck with him an everyday player to this point, but they did just get Adrian Beltre back from the DL and Elvis Andrus (elbow) should return in a couple of weeks. At that point, the Rangers will have to figure out how to keep Jurickson Profar in the mix and perhaps Isiah Kiner-Falefa, too. I still think Odor will be a top-10 second baseman the rest of the way if he’s left alone, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the Rangers sent him down for a spell (and given how much worse he is in reality than in fantasy baseball, they’d be completely justified in doing so). It could hinge on how well he hits before Andrus returns.

  • Adalberto Mondesi has been on the DL twice this season at Triple-A Omaha, but he’s hit .268/.311/.561 in 10 games since returning from his latest injury. All of his starts in the field since returning have come at shortstop, so perhaps the Royals will consider finally moving on from Alcides Escobar at some point. They also have the option of playing Mondesi at second and moving Whit Merrifield to the outfield, but if they liked that idea, he’d be splitting time at second right now.
