Looking Ahead: 76 to the 500

During the off-season, Looking Ahead gives a snapshot of where drivers finished in 2013 and what’s ahead for them in 2014. We will look at drivers who scored at least 400 points in the Cup Series and those who earned at least 250 points in the Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series.

With 76 days to go until the 2014 season-opening Daytona 500, here are some driver recaps followed by a tentative list of 2014 Sprint Cup Driver/Team lineups.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS):
David Reutimann finished 33rd in the standings and earned 465 points.
2013: Drove the No. 83 Toyota for BK Racing. In 36 starts, he had a 33.5 average start and a 31.1 average finish.
Best 2013 NSCS start: 22 - Richmond 4/27
Best 2013 NSCS finish: 16 - Daytona 2/24
Last career NSCS Win: Chicago 7/10/2010
2014: No firm plans at this time.

J.J. Yeley finished 32nd in the standings and earned 472 points.
2013: Drove the No. 36 Chevrolet for Tommy Baldwin Racing. In 35 starts, he had one top-10 finish, a 36.9 average start and a 30.6 average finish. Yeley also made 15 Nationwide Series starts and seven Camping World Truck Series starts in 2013.
Best 2013 NSCS start: 23 - Charlotte 5/26
Best 2013 NSCS finish: 10 - Daytona 2/24
Last career NSCS Win: None so far

Travis Kvapil finished 31st in the standings and earned 496 points.
2013: Drove the No. 93 Toyota for BK Racing. In 36 starts, he had a 33.9 average start and a 30.4 average finish.
Best 2013 NSCS start: 22 - Indianapolis 7/28
Best 2013 NSCS finish: 16 - Bristol 8/24
Last career NSCS Win: None so far

NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS):
Jamie Dick finished 28th in the standings and earned 277 points.
2013: Drove 17 races in the Viva Motorsports No. 55 Chevrolet. He had a 28.1 average start and a 27.7 average finish.
Best 2013 NNS start: 17 - Phoenix 3/2
Best 2013 NNS finish: 12 - Talladega 5/4
Last career NNS Win: None so far

Jeffrey Earnhardt finished 27th in the standings and earned 339 points.
2013: Drove 17 races; 16 in the Go Green Racing No. 79 Ford and one in his Uncle Dale Jr.’s JRM No. 5 Chevrolet.  He had a 30.4 average start and a 24.2 average finish.
Best 2013 NNS start: 18 - Michigan 6/15
Best 2013 NNS finish: 16 - Talladega 5/4
Last career NNS Win: None so far

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS):
Jennifer Jo Cobb finished 25th in the standings and earned 262 points.
2013: Drove her Jennifer Jo Cobb Racing No. 10 truck (11 times as a RAM, 2 as a Chevrolet Silverado and 2 as a Ford F-150) in 16 races. She had a 31.3 average start and a 27.6 average finish. She also made one Nationwide Series start in R3 Racing’s No. 23 Ford Mustang (finished 26th at Kansas).
Best 2013 NCWTS start: 24 - Las Vegas 9/28
Best 2013 NCWTS finish: 17 - Kansas 4/20
Last career NCWTS Win: None so far
2014: No firm plans in place; most likely will enter the No. 10 truck again.

David Starr finished 24th in the standings and earned 284 points.
2013: Drove SS Green Light Racing No. 81 Toyota Tundra in 11 races. He led 9 laps, had one top-5, one top-ten, a 27.2 average start and an 18.4 average finish. Starr also made two Nationwide Series starts in VIVA Motorsports No. 55 Chevrolet Camaro (finished 21st in both events).
Best 2013 NCWTS start: 12 - Martinsville 4/6 and Dover 5/31
Best 2013 NCWTS finish: 2 - Talladega 10/19
Last career NCWTS Win: Martinsville 4/1/2006.
