Wrap-up: Darlington Raceway

The Darlington (SC) Raceway hosted the Nationwide Series VFW Sport Clips Help a Hero 200 on Friday night and the Sprint Cup Bojangles’ Southern 500 on Saturday night. The Camping World Truck Series returns to action with the SFP 250 on Friday, May 9 at Kansas Speedway. The latest results on the ARCA Racing Series and the NASCAR “Home Tracks” are also shown below.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
Time Trials:
Kevin Harvick won the Coors Light Pole Award for the Bojangles' Southern 500 with a lap of 183.479 mph. This is the No. 4 Chevrolet SS driver's seventh pole in 474 NSCS races. It is his first pole and third top-10 start in 2014. This is Harvick's first pole in 18 races at Darlington. Aric Almirola set a new track record during Round 2 of qualifying with a lap of 26.705 seconds, 183.479 mph. It is the sixth track record in eight races this year. In the final 12-car round, the No. 43 Ford Fusion driver clocked a third fastest lap.
Did Not Qualify: No. 35 David Reutimann.
Winner:
Kevin Harvick won the Bojangles' Southern 500, his 25th victory in 474 NSCS races. This is the No. 4 Chevrolet SS driver's second victory and third top-10 finish in 2014. This is his first victory and seventh top-10 finish in 18 races at Darlington. He becomes the first driver to win from the pole at Darlington since Dale Jarrett in 1997. With two wins, Harvick is now guaranteed to be among the top 15 winners - virtually guaranteeing a spot in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.

NASCAR Nationwide Series
Time Trials:
Sprint Cup regular Kyle Busch won the Coors Light Pole Award for the VFW Sport Clips Help a Hero 200 with a lap of 28.314 seconds, 173.681 mph. This is the No. 54 Toyota driver's 37th pole in 277 NNS races. It is his first pole and fifth top-10 NNS start in 2014. This is his third pole in ten NNS races at Darlington Raceway.
Did Not Qualify: None, only 40 entries for 40 spots.
Winner: Chase Elliott won the VFW Sport Clips Help a Hero 200, his second victory in seven NNS races. This is the No. 9 Chevrolet Camaro driver's second victory and sixth top-10 finish in 2014. This is his first start ever at Darlington Raceway. Elliott becomes the youngest driver to win two NASCAR Nationwide Series races (18 years, 4 months, 14 days). He leads the Nationwide Series point standings by 13 points over JR Motorsports teammate Regan Smith.
