Wrap-up: Talladega

The Talladega (Alabama) Superspeedway hosted the Nationwide Series Aaron’s 312 on Saturday and the Sprint Cup Aaron’s 499 on Sunday. The Camping World Truck Series returns to action with the SFP 250 on Friday, May 9 at Kansas Speedway. The latest results on the ARCA Racing Series and the NASCAR “Home Tracks” are also shown below.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
Time Trials:
Nationwide Series regular Brian Scott won the Coors Light Pole Award for the Aaron's 499 with a lap of 48.293 seconds, 198.290 mph. This is the No. 33 Chevrolet SS driver's first career pole in five NSCS races. His previous best start was 12th, in this year's Daytona 500. This is Scott's first top-10 start in 2014. He never led a lap, was involved in a multi-car wreck and was credited with a 42nd place finish.
Did Not Qualify: No. 77 Dave Blaney and Nationwide Series regulars: No. 87 Joe Nemechek, No. 35 Eric McClure and No. 44 J.J. Yeley.
Winner:
Denny Hamlin won the Aaron's 499, his 24th victory in 300 NSCS races. This is the No. 11 Toyota Camry driver's first victory and third top-10 finish in 2014. With the win, Hamlin is all but locked into the 2014 Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. This is his first victory and sixth top-10 finish in 17 races at Talladega. It is his first points race win at a restrictor plate track (he has four non-points race wins at Daytona).

NASCAR Nationwide Series
Time Trials:
Sam Hornish Jr.won the Coors Light Pole Award for the Aaron's 312 with a lap of 51.268 seconds, 186.783 mph. This is the No. 54 Toyota Camry driver's sixth pole in 100 NNS races. His last pole came at Homestead-Miami Speedway in 2013. This is his first pole in four races at Talladega Superspeedway. Hornish never led a lap and finished the race in fifth place. This was his only NNS start in 2014 so far and is now 34th in the point standings.
Did Not Qualify:No. 84 Chad Boat and No. 70 Derrike Cope.
Winner: Elliott Sadler won the Aaron's 312, his 10th victory in 239 NNS races. This is the No. 11 Toyota Camry driver's first victory and seventh top-10 finish in 2014. He ends a 54-race win drought; his last win was at Iowa Speedway on Aug. 4, 2012. This is his first victory and third top-10 finish in six races at Talladega Superspeedway.
