Wrap-up: Watkins Glen, NY

Watkins Glen (NY) International hosted a pair of weekend road course events. On Saturday, the Nationwide Series featured the Zippo 200 at The Glen and the Sprint Cup Series held its Cheez-It 355 at The Glen on Sunday. The Camping World Truck Series had an off weekend and will return to action with the Careers for Veterans 200 on Saturday, August 16, at the Michigan International Speedway (Brooklyn, MI). The latest results on the ARCA Racing Series and the NASCAR Home Tracks are also shown below.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
Time Trials:
Jeff Gordon won the Coors Light Pole Award for the Cheez-It 355 at The Glen with a lap of 68.126 seconds, 129.466 mph. This is the No. 24 Chevrolet SS driver's 75th pole in 747 NSCS races. This is his first pole and 13th top-10 start in 2014 and his third pole in 22 races at Watkins Glen International. Gordon led 29 laps and, after having a problem with a bad battery, finished the race in 34th position.
Did Not Qualify: None, 43 entered for 43 spots.
Winner: AJ Allmendinger won the Cheez-It 355 at The Glen, his first victory in 213 NSCS races. This is the No. 47 Scott Products Chevrolet SS driver's fourth top-10 finish in 2014. It is his first victory and fourth top-10 finish in six races at Watkins Glen International. Allmendinger advanced one spot to 24th in the 2014 NSCS point standings. He also clinches a spot in the Chase for the Sprint Cup.

NASCAR Nationwide Series
Time Trials: 
Sprint Cup regular (No. 2 Ford Fusion) Brad Keselowski won the Coors Light Pole Award for the Zippo 200 at The Glen with a lap of 71.018 seconds, 124.194 mph, which is a new track qualifying record. Sam Hornish Jr. set the previous qualifying record of 123.291 mph in 2013. This the No. 22 Ford Fusion driver's 18th pole in 213 NNS races. This is his fourth pole and seventh top-10 NNS start in 2014. This is Keselowski's first pole in six NNS races at Watkins Glen International. He led 14 laps in the race and finished in fourth place.

Winner: Sprint Cup regular (No. 9 Ford Fusion) Marcos Ambrose won the Zippo 200 at The Glen, his fifth victory in 77 NNS races. This is the No. 09 Stanley Ford Mustang driver's first victory and first top-10 finish in 2014. It is Ambrose's fourth victory and fourth top-10 finish in five NNS races at Watkins Glen International.
