Wrapup: Charlotte

The Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, NC hosted the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) and XFINITY Series (NXS) races this past weekend. The NXS held the 200-lap Drive for the Cure 300 on Saturday and the MENCS ran the 337-lap Bank of America 500 around the 1.5-mile oval on Sunday. The Camping World Truck Series will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 14, with the Fred's 250 at Talladega Superspeedway. The results and upcoming scheduled events for the ARCA Racing Series, NASCAR Home Tracks and other covered series are also shown below.

Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS)
Time Trials: Denny Hamlin (No. 11  FedEx Office Toyota) won the Coors Light Pole Award for the Bank of America 500 with a lap of 191.598 mph. This is his 25th pole in 428 MENCS races. It is his first pole and 19th top-10 start in 2017 and his second pole in 25 races at Charlotte Motor Speedway (CMS). Matt Kenseth (second) posted his 19th top-10 start of 2017 and his 14th in 37 races at CMS. Kevin Harvick (third) posted his 12th top-10 start at CMS and his 21st in 30 races this season. Daniel Suarez (14th) was the fastest qualifying Rookie of the Year contender.   
Did not qualify: No one. 40 cars entered for 40 spots in the lineup.

Results: Martin Truex Jr. (No. 78 Auto-Owners Insurance Toyota) won the Bank of America 500, his 13th victory in 435 MENCS races. This is his sixth victory and 21st top-10 finish in 2017 and his second victory and ninth top-10 finish in 25 races at CMS. Chase Elliott (second) posted his second top-10 finish in five races at CMS and his 17th top-10 finish in 2017. Kevin Harvick (third) posted his 16th top-10 finish in 34 races at CMS. Daniel Suarez (sixth) was the highest finishing Rookie of the Year contender. Pole-sitter Denny Hamlin led 45 laps and finished the 337-lap race in fourth place.

Standings: Martin Truex Jr. leads the point standings by 34 points over Kyle Larson.

NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS)
Time Trials: Qualifying at Charlotte Motor Speedway (CMS) was cancelled due to weather conditions (Rain). Lineup for the Drive for the Cure 300 was set by owners’ points. MENCS regular Daniel Suarez, driving the No. 18 Toyota, started on the pole. He will not be credited with a pole. No. 22 Ryan Blaney, No. 20 Erik Jones, No. 42 Alex Bowman and No. 7 Justin Allgaier made up the rest of the top-five in the lineup.
Did not qualify: No. 92 Dexter Bean.

Results: Alex Bowman (No. 42 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet) won the Drive for the Cure 300, his first victory in 51 NXS races. This is his first top-10 finish in 2017 and his first top-10 finish in four races at CMS. Sam Hornish Jr. (second) posted his third top-10 finish in eight races at CMS and his second top-10 finish in 2017. Cup series regular Ryan Blaney (third) posted his fourth top-10 finish in six NXS races at CMS. Spencer Gallagher (34th) was the highest finishing Rookie of the Year contender.

Standings: William Byron leads the point standings by three points over Justin Allgaier.
