Wrapup: Talladega

Alabama's Talladega Superspeedway hosted the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) and Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) races this past weekend. The NCWTS held the 95-lap fred's 250, an elimination race, on Saturday. The Chase playoff field was cut down from eight to six drivers (Round of 6) after the event. On Sunday, the MENCS featured the 188-lap Alabama 500 at the 2.66-mile tri-oval. The XFINITY Series will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 21, with the Kansas Lottery 300 at Kansas Speedway. The results and upcoming scheduled events for the ARCA Racing Series, NASCAR Home Tracks and other covered series are also shown below.

Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS)
Time Trials: Dale Earnhardt Jr. (No. 88 Mountain Dew Chevrolet SS) won the Coors Light Pole Award for the Alabama 500 with a lap of 190.544 mph. This is his 15th pole in 626 MENCS races. This is his second pole and seventh top-10 start in 2017 and his first pole in 35 races at Talladega Superspeedway. Chase Elliott (second) posted his 17th top-10 start of 2017 and his fourth in four races at Talladega. Joey Logano (third) posted his third top-10 start at Talladega and his 18th in 31 races this season. Daniel Suarez (14th) was the fastest qualifying Rookie of the Year contender.   
Did not qualify: No one. 40 cars entered for 40 spots in the lineup.

Results: Brad Keselowski (No. 2 Miller Lite Ford) won the Alabama 500, his 24th victory in 300 MENCS races. This is his third victory and 18th top-10 finish in 2017 and his fifth victory and 11th top-10 finish in 18 races at Talladega Superspeedway. Ryan Newman (second) posted his 12th top-10 finish in 32 races at Talladega and his 12th top-10 finish in 2017. Trevor Bayne (third) posted his third top-10 finish in 14 races at Talladega. Gray Gaulding (ninth) was the highest finishing Rookie of the Year contender. Pole-sitter Dale Earnhardt Jr. led seven laps and finished the 188-lap event in seventh place.

Standings: Martin Truex Jr. leads the point standings by 19 points over Brad Keselowski.

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS)
Time Trials: Christopher Bell (No. 4  Toyota Tundra) won the Keystone Light Pole Award for the fred's 250 with a lap of 180.118 mph. This is his fourth pole in 49 NCWTS races. It is his fourth pole and 17th top-10 start in 2017 and his first pole in three races at Talladega Superspeedway. Johnny Sauter (second) posted his 17th top-10 start of 2017 and his fifth in nine races at Talladega. Stewart Friesen (third), the fastest qualifying Rookie of the Year contender, posted his first top-10 start at Talladega and his second in 15 races this season.  
Did not qualify: No one. 31 trucks entered for the 32-truck field.

Results: Parker Kligerman (No. 75 Food Country USA/Lopez Wealth Mgmt Toyota Tundra) won the fred's 250, his second victory in 68 NCWTS races. This is his first victory and fifth top-10 finish in 2017. It is his second victory and third top-10 finish in four races at Talladega Superspeedway. Pole-sitter Christopher Bell (second) led nine laps and posted his second top-10 finish in three races at Talladega and his 17th top-10 finish in 2017. Myatt Snider (third) posted a top-10 finish in his first race at Talladega. Grant Enfinger (fourth) was the highest finishing Rookie of the Year contender.

Standings: Christopher Bell leads the point standings by 52 points over Johnny Sauter.
