Wrap-up: Pocono Raceway

The Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvania was the site of two NASCAR top-level series races this past weekend. On Saturday afternoon, the XFINITY Series held it's 100-lap Pocono Green 250 at the 2.5-mile tri-oval. The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series drivers took their turn racing 160-laps at the "Tricky Triangle" competing in the Pocono 400. Results and upcoming scheduled events for the NASCAR Home Tracks are also shown below.

Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS)
Time Trials: Ryan Blaney (No. 12 Menards/Duracell Ford) won the Busch Pole Award Pole Award for the Pocono 400 with a lap of 176.897 mph. This is his fourth pole in 104 MENCS races and first pole in five races at Pocono Raceway. It is his second pole and ninth top-10 start in 2018. Kevin Harvick (second) posted his 12th top-10 start of 2018 and his 12th in 35 Pocono races. Jamie McMurray (third) posted his ninth top-10 start at Pocono and his fourth in 14 races this season. William Byron (16th) was the fastest qualifying Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender.
Did not qualify: No one. 38 cars entered for 40 spots in the lineup.

Results: Martin Truex Jr. (No. 78 Bass Pro Shops/5-hour ENERGY Toyota) won the Pocono 400, his 17th victory in 455 MENCS races. This is his second victory and 10th top-10 finish in 25 races at Pocono Raceway. Kyle Larson (second) posted his fifth top-10 finish in nine races at Pocono and his ninth top-10 finish in 2018. Kyle Busch (third) posted his 12th top-10 finish in 27 Pocono races. William Byron (18th) was the highest finishing Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender. Pole-sitter Ryan Blaney led 11 laps and finished the 160-lap race in seventh place.

NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS)
Time Trials: Cole Custer (No. 00 Haas Automation Ford) won the Pole Award for the Pocono Green 250 with a lap of 161.423 mph. This is his third pole in 50 NXS races and his first pole in two races at Pocono Raceway. It is his third pole and ninth top-10 start in 2018. Ryan Truex (second) posted his eighth top-10 start of 2018. Austin Cindric (third), fastest qualifying Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender, posted his first top-10 start at Pocono and his seventh in 12 NXS races this season.
Did Not Qualify: No. 89 Morgan Shepherd.

Results: Cup Series regular Kyle Busch won the Pocono Green 250, his 92nd victory in 342 NXS races and his first victory and second top-10 finish in two NXS races at Pocono. Chase Elliott (second), another Cup Series regular entering his first NXS start at Pocono, posted his first top-10 series finish in 2018. Daniel Hemric (third) posted his second top-10 finish in two races at Pocono. Austin Cindric (fourth) was the highest finishing Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender. Pole-sitter Cole Custer, led 23 laps and finished the 100-lap race in fifth place.
