Wrap-up: Darlington Raceway

South Carolina's Darlington Raceway was the venue for the Labor Day weekend Cup and XFINITY Series events. On Saturday night the NXS ran the 147-lap Sport Clips Haircuts VFW 200. The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series took over the 1.366-mile oval on Sunday night for the 367-lap Bojangles’ Southern 500. Brad Keselowski, who started this weekend with six NXS and nine Cup prior starts at Darlington without a victory, swept both events. The Camping World Truck Series will return to action on Friday, Sept. 14, with the World of Westgate 200 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Results and upcoming scheduled events for the NASCAR Home Tracks are also shown below.

Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS)
Time Trials: Denny Hamlin (No. 11 Toyota) won the Busch Pole Award for the Bojangles' Southern 500 with a lap of 173.571 mph. This is his 29th pole in 459 MENCS Series races and his first in 13 races at Darlington Raceway. It is his third pole and 17th top-10 start in 2018. Kyle Larson (second) posted his 13th top-10 start of 2018 and his second in five races at Darlington. Martin Truex Jr. (third) scored his sixth top-10 start at Darlington and his 17th in 25 races this season. William Byron (10th) was the fastest qualifying Sunoco Rookie of the Year (ROTY) contender.
Did not qualify: No one. 40 cars entered for 40 spots in the lineup.

Results: Brad Keselowski (No. 2 Ford) won the Bojangles' Southern 500, his 25th victory in 330 MENCS races. This is his first victory and 13th top-10 series finish in 2018. It is his first victory and fifth top-10 finish in ten Cup races at Darlington Raceway. Keselowski also won Saturday's XFINITY Series race at the track. Joey Logano (second) posted his fifth top-10 finish in ten races at Darlington Raceway and his 18th top-10 finish in 2018. Kyle Larson (third), who led a race-high 284 laps, posted his fourth top-10 finish in five races at Darlington. Bubba Wallace (26th) was the highest finishing ROTY contender. Pole-sitter Denny Hamlin led 11 laps and finished the 367-lap event in 10th place.

NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS)
Time Trials: Ross Chastain (No. 42 DC Solar Chevrolet Camaro) won the Pole Award for the Sport Clips Haircuts VFW 200 with a lap of 169.531 mph. This is his first pole in 130 NXS races. It is his first top-10 start in four races at Darlington Raceway. Christopher Bell (second), who was entering his first race at Darlington, posted his 16th top-10 start of 2018. He was also the highest qualifying ROTY contender. Tyler Reddick (third) scored his first top-10 start at Darlington and his 15th in 24 NXS races this season.

Results: Cup Series regular Brad Keselowski (No. 2 Ford), driving the No. 22 Ford Mustang, won the Sport Clips Haircuts VFW 200, his 39th victory in 254 NXS races. This is his third NXS victory and fifth top-10 finish in 2018. It is his first victory and third top-10 finish in seven NXS races at Darlington. Cole Custer (second) posted his second top-10 finish in two races at Darlington. It is his 20th top-10 finish in 2018. Tyler Reddick (third), the highest finishing ROTY contender, scored his first top-10 finish in two races at Darlington. Pole-sitter Ross Chastain led a race-high 90 laps and finished the 147-lap event in 25th place.
