FPBC Lineup for Wednesday

Wednesday, March 9, 2016

I had a good night on Friday after a disaster last Wednesday in the FPBC (click here to see the participants and standings!). I went from worst to first with a win on Friday night and now sit in second place overall in the contest. My Fanduel teams struggled on Monday and Tuesday, so I’ve really hunkered down and studied for Wednesday night’s games. Believe it or not, I really want to win an all-expense paid trip to Cali. I love free stuff! Follow me on Twitter by clicking here!

It’s early and there’s an outside chance I could freak out and blow this lineup up (spoiler alert - I did), but here’s what I came up with in the wee hours this morning. I also have an alternate set up in case Kristaps Porzingis plays tonight. If he does, I may decide I really don’t want Derrick Williams in there. Although the news that Lance Thomas is out indefinitely pushes his needle in the right direction.

Update: After having all day to tinker, I blew up my original lineup, although I still used every player I wrote up below in various lineups. Here's what I've settled on, barring another whim or more injury news. I basically flipped Isaiah Canaan, Derrick Favors and Derrick Williams for Darren Collison, Jerami Grant and JaMychal Green.

My New Lineup

Kyrie Irving $7,200

Darren Collison $5,000 - No SGs healthy for SAC, should play 45 minutes.

Klay Thompson $7,1000

Nicolas Batum $6,700

LeBron James $10,100

Gordon Hayward $5,700

Jerami Grant $5,200 - No Jahlil Okafor and he'll start at PF.

JaMychal Green $4,600 - Zach Randolph doubtful, no Marc Gasol, coming in red-hot.

Alex Len $6,600

Original Lineup

PG Kyrie Irving $7,200

PG Isaiah Canaan $3,900

SG Klay Thompson $7,100

SG Nicolas Batum $6,700

SF LeBron James $10,100

SF Gordon Hayward $7,300

PF Derrick Favors $7,600

PF Derrick Williams $3,500

C Alex Len $6,600

Point Guard

Kyrie Irving gets the Kings, who are the sixth-worst team against opposing point guards. Chris Paul actually looks like the best point guard play to me on paper tonight, and Stephen Curry and Russell Westbrook are always clutch, but I chose to spend my money elsewhere. Isaiah Canaan was part of my winning formula on Friday and I’m hoping lightning strikes twice. He’s played very well in five straight games, is more shooting guard than point guard, and the Rockets of late have been the second-worst team in the league against opposing SGs.

Shooting Guard

James Harden is obviously the best SG play on most nights, but like with CP3, I ran outta cash. However, I like the way Klay Thompson and Nicolas Batum are playing and Batum has the luxury of facing the Pelicans, who have been THE worst team against opposing small forwards lately. And with Courtney Lee starting at SG for the Hornets, Batum starts at small forward these days. He’s also racked up between 31 and 46 Fanduel points in each of his last four games. Thompson’s matchup against Utah isn’t bad, but it’s also not as good as J.J. Redick and Jamal Crawford facing the Thunder. If I end up making a change prior to tonight’s games, it might include Redick replacing Thompson and throwing money elsewhere. But for now, Thompson looks like a good bet to have a big game at home against the Jazz.

Small Forward

I like LeBron James’ matchup against the Kings tonight and Gordon Hayward’s is just as fun against the Warriors. The Kings and Dubs are No.s 1 and 2 in giving it up to small forwards over their last five games. LeBron’s hit between 41 and 55 Fanduel points in six straight games, while Hayward’s been between 28 and 42 over his last six.

Power Forward

As you can see, I’m pretty much all-in on the Warriors-Jazz game and Derrick Favors should have a good one tonight. Am I concerned about him on a back-to-back? Sure, but teams get up for the Warriors and Draymond Green is probably still a little ill with strep throat. Favors has gone for 34 and 57 Fanduel points in his last two games and I’m hoping he can do it again tonight. With so many high-dollar players on my roster, I’m taking a flier on Derrick Williams. We already know Lance Thomas is out tonight, while Kristaps Porzingis struggled in just 20 minutes on Tuesday. He’s coming off a nasty leg injury and could even sit tonight. If Porzingis feels great today and is going to play, I may flip Williams out of the lineup. In fact, I already have a rough draft of an alternative lineup set up, which I’ll include at the end of this column. Williams did have 23.3 Fanduel points with Porzingis in the lineup last night, so there’s hope that he can do it again, with or without Porzingis.

Center

First of all, I love the matchups that Hassan Whiteside (Milwaukee - iffy, illness), Andre Drummond (Dallas), Dwight Howard (Philly), DeAndre Jordan (OKC) and DeMarcus Cousins (Cleveland) all have, but Alex Len’s salary is still ridiculously low. Len gets the lowly Knicks, but they do fairly well against opposing centers, coming in as the 13th-worst team against opposing centers over their last five games. But when you consider the low salary, along with the fact Len has gone for 50-plus Fanduel points in his last two games, he just looks too good for me to pass up.

Here’s the alternative lineup I have prepared in case I get cold feet on Williams. JaMychal Green, Jerami GrantCorey Brewer and Shelvin Mack all look like value plays and aren't listed below, but are all guys I'm thinking about firing up as well. Especially Green with Zach Randolph doubtful.

PG Kyrie Irving $7,200

PG Isaiah Canaan $3,900

SG Jamal Crawford $4,900

SG J.J. Redick $4,700

SF LeBron James $10,100

SF Gordon Hayward $7,300

PF Derrick Favors $7,600

PF Marvin Williams $5,800

C Andre Drummond $8,500
