FanDuel NBA Plays: Thursday

Thursday, January 11, 2018

I’m here to break down tonight’s three-game FanDuel NBA slate starting at 8:00 ET. Keep in mind that this column was created earlier in the day, meaning injury information could change the fantasy landscape throughout the afternoon. Obviously you’ll want to keep track of any developments through Rotoworld’s NBA Headlines & Injuries Feed as we move closer to tip-off.

With that, let’s dive into each position while mining for the best value and overall plays in this slate.

POINT GUARD

Delon Wright – Toronto (FanDuel Price: $5,700)

Even though the price has spiked, Delon Wright makes for a comfortable pick within tonight’s three-game slate. Kyle Lowry is doubtful, likely missing his second straight contest with a back injury. Wright stepped in for 33 fantasy points in 29 minutes Tuesday vs Miami. He’ll likely get the starting nod once again, presenting another opportunity to flash exciting upside against a Cleveland team that ranks 20th in defensive efficiency vs point guards.

Also Consider: Patty Mills (if Parker out), De’Aaron Fox (if Hill out), Jawun Evans (if Teodosic out)

SHOOTING GUARD

DeMar DeRozan – Toronto (FanDuel Price: $9,600)

The decision at shooting guard comes down to DeMar DeRozan, Lou Williams, or both. I believe there’s enough value at point guard, power forward, and center to comfortably roster DeRoza/Lou/LeBron in the same lineup. DeRozan is the more confident choice at shooting guard, as he’ll enjoy a heavy usage rate with Kyle Lowry sidelined. The Cavaliers rank 25th in defensive efficiency vs opposing shooting guards and 24th vs backcourts. This should be a competitive battle of Eastern Conference heavyweights, and I’m looking for DeRozan to put on a show in front of a national audience.

Also Consider: Buddy Hield, Tyrone Wallace (if Teodosic out)

SMALL FORWARD

LeBron James – Cleveland (FanDuel Price: $11,500)

As mentioned in the previous write-up, there’s enough value to mesh LeBron, DeRozan, and Sweet Lou in the same lineup. That’s good news, because the small forward position is pretty limited tonight. In fact, I’m having a difficult time finding a confident option outside of LeBron James or Kyle Anderson, so that will likely represent my tandem at this position. Aside from that, I have confidence in LBJ to bounce-back from Monday’s blowout loss at Minnesota.

Also Consider: Kyle Anderson

POWER FORWARD

Pascal Siakam – Toronto (FanDuel Price: $3,500)

Serge Ibaka is suspended for tonight’s game, meaning Pascal Siakam should see more playing time (25-30 minutes) in Toronto’s frontcourt. The minutes increase along with a near-minimum salary and lower-than-usual opportunity cost (on a three-game slate) makes Siakam an easy value commodity to deploy on FanDuel.

I’ll likely pair Siakam with Davis Bertans of San Antonio. He has been strong of the bench lately, and the Spurs will need him to keep that trend with Kawhi Leonard still out.

Also Consider: Davis Bertans, Zach Randolph

CENTER

Pau Gasol – San Antonio (FanDuel Price: $5,500)

As mentioned earlier, Kawhi Leonard won’t play tonight, which could free Pau Gasol for more fantasy opportunities. The tricky part comes with Gasol’s minutes, as they have been a roller coaster this entire season. However, that’s factored into this economical price point, and a high-scoring matchup at LAL (20th vs centers) is a comfortable one.

Also Consider: Jonas Valanciunas
