The Week Of The Tight End

Game Busts

Michael Turner – Turner has been eking out fantasy relevance most weeks with a touchdown or a decent yardage game, but over the last four games Michael Turner is 57 for 175 yards (3.1 ypc) and one touchdown. On Sunday against the worst rush defense in the league he finished with 15 yards on 13 carries. How you do that against the Saints is mind-boggling. And even though it’s from a small sample size, Jacquizz Rodgers is 14 for 89 (6.4 ypc) in that same span and has looked much better than early in the season.

Reggie Bush – Bush and the Dolphins had a great matchup against a multi-faceted under achieving Titans defense on Sunday and that’s where the good news abruptly stopped. Bush lost an early fumble and was benched and the Dolphins lost an embarrassing game 37-3. The Bears had just humiliated the Titans the week before.

Eli Manning/Victor Cruz – Over the last five games Manning is averaging 212 yards passing and has thrown two touchdowns to six interceptions. I wrote last week that this is just part of his mid-season swoon and I’m sticking by that for now, but I reserve the right to completely disavow everything I’ve ever said, ever. Unfortunately Cruz is being dragged down with Manning, but they get a much-needed bye and then face Green Bay, Washington, and New Orleans. There will be receptions.

Kenny Britt – Well, I’ve been a supporter of Britt’s talent for a while now and he’s giving me the agita. This week Jake Locker returned and completed a measly nine passes. Britt actually tied for the team lead with two receptions and led the team with 36 yards. Wha? I want to give up on him, but I just can’t do it based on this game.

Vernon Davis – Not the best situation with Alex Smith leaving with a concussion, but Davis is killing plenty of fantasy teams this season. Since scoring four touchdowns in the first three games, he has averaged 2.6 receptions, 48 yards and zero touchdowns over the last six.

Twitter Talk

@SC_DougFarrar -- Left-handed touchdown passes in the 2012 season: Golden Tate 1, Tim Tebow 0.

@RotoPat -- Won't claim Tebow would be better, but if Sanchez can keep playing like this and keep his job, why even waste roster spots on backup QBs?

@Dexters_Library -- Chicago weather turning apocalyptic. Texans and Bears could be last NFL game ever. I hope Arian Foster eats some steak before it's too late.

@greggrosenthal -- Carson Palmer has started 17 games for Oakland: 4,992 yards.

@CaptainComeback -- 368 yards for Carson Palmer? He's like that little kid who thinks he's rich b/c he has a heavy piggy bank, but only full of pennies.

@scott_pianowski -- When it comes to pocket awareness, Mark Sanchez is the deaf, dumb and blind kid. But on the Jets, he always gets the replay.

@billbarnwell -- How many times does Mike Turner get stuffed before the Falcons throw it to Tony Gonzalez for a touchdown here?

@chrisperk -- Chris Johnson has 14-yd carry to go over 100 for the day. The Streak is over. Fins had gone 22 games w/o allowing 100-yd rusher.

@ChrisWesseling -- Ivory looked like a faster Marshawn Lynch on that TD run. Asante Samuel made a business decision, Dunta Robinson got ruined on a stiff-arm.
