Injury Roundup: Week 12

Monday, November 25, 2013

The biggest fantasy related injury this weekend for many people was to Rams’ running back Zac Stacy. He went down late in the second quarter against the Bears with a head injury. He was evaluated at halftime and ruled out with a concussion. His stat line was up to 87 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries and a 10-yard reception when he was forced from the game. Benny Cunningham took the lead role after that and went on to run for 109 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries in the second half.  It would have been interesting to see what Stacy could have done against the inept Bears’ run defense if he had stayed healthy.

Chris Ivory injured his ankle on his first carry of the game, but played through the injury. He revealed after Sunday's loss to the Ravens that he’d likely undergo an MRI on his injured ankle. He finished the game with nine carries for 35 yards.

Ryan Mathews has been dealing with a hamstring injury the past couple weeks and had to leave the game against Kansas City with a hamstring injury in the third quarter. At this time we don't know if he reinjured the same hamstring or if this is a new injury. He has been playing very well of late and had rushed 14 times for 55 yards with a touchdown and caught two passes for 10 yards.

Editor's Note: Rotoworld's partner FanDuel is hosting a one-week $300,000 Fantasy Football league for Week 13. It's $25 to join and first prize is $25,000. Starts Sunday at 1pm ET. Here's the link.

Denver CBS Sportscaster Vic Lombardi reports that Knowshon Moreno was on crutches after the game. Moreno had to leave the game after injuring his ankle in overtime, but came back in after a couple plays. It was a heroic effort by Moreno who rushed for 224 yards on a whopping 37 carries. We'll keep you updated on his status.

T.Y. Hilton hurt his shoulder in the first half but missed just a couple plays. It initially appeared like it could have been much worse. Hilton was on the ground for a couple minutes, but eventually walked off under his own power and then returned to the field later.

Mychal Rivera was hit hard by Titans’ safety Michael Griffin during the second quarter and had to leave the game with a concussion. The Raiders play on Thanksgiving so he'll probably miss next week.

Daniel Thomas left Sunday's game against the Panthers in the third quarter with a left ankle injury. The extent of the injury is unknown, but it did look significant. If he misses time, Lamar Miller would become a more attractive fantasy player.

Jason Campbell fumbled on a sack in the third quarter and had to be carted off the field with a head injury. Campbell only completed 14-of-22 passes for 124 yards before leaving. Brandon Weeden replaced him at quarterback and helped Josh Gordon to a big game in garbage time, but not much else.

Darrelle Revis left Sunday's game due to a groin injury and did not return. Steve Smith would be the #1 receiver who gets an upgrade next week if Revis can’t go.

FOX Sports' Mike Garafolo reports Kansas City outside linebacker Tamba Hali has been initially diagnosed with a mid-inside ankle sprain. That’s good news if it holds up, but we’ll know more after he gets an MRI.

Kansas City’s other star outside linebacker Justin Houston sustained a subluxed elbow in Sunday's game. That means his elbow popped out of place for those of you who want a visual. The extent of the injury won’t be known until an MRI reveals any ligament damage.

Antonio Cromartie told reporters his hip "gave out on me a little bit" in Sunday's loss to the Ravens. Cromartie has dealt with hip problems off and on since he broke his right hip while with the Chargers in 2008. The injury on Sunday was of the non-contact variety and could point to something more severe.

Other Injury Notes:

Johnathan Franklin suffered a possible concussion on the opening kickoff against the Vikings.  . . . Broncos’ cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie was forced from Sunday night's game against the Patriots with a shoulder injury.  . . . Joe Webb left the game against the Packers with a possible concussion.   . . . Broncos’ strong safety Duke Ihenacho left the game after taking a helmet-to-helmet hit from teammate Wesley Woodyard in the second quarter.  . . . CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports Steelers nose tackle Steve McLendon will "miss a few weeks" with an ankle injury.  . . . Patriots right tackle Marcus Cannon suffered a first quarter ankle injury.  . . . Raiders cornerback Mike Jenkins sustained a concussion in Sunday's loss to the Titans.  . . . Cowboys’ cornerback Morris Claiborne had to leave the game against the Giants with a hamstring injury, the same injury he has been dealing with this season.  . . .  Lions’ cornerback Chris Houston left the Buccaneers’ game with a hamstring injury after getting beat for an 85-yard touchdown to Tiquan Underwood.  . . . Rams’ cornerback Trumaine Johnson suffered a concussion and had to leave the Bears game.  . . . Rams’ left guard Chris Williams also had to leave their game with a concussion.
