$30,000 FanDuel Tournament

Saturday, December 28, 2013

Editor's Note: Rotoworld's partner FanDuel is hosting a one-week $30,000 Fantasy Football league for Week 17. It's $10 to join and first prize is $4,000. Starts Sunday at 1pm ET. Here's the FanDuel link.

Welcome to Week 17 y’all (I moved to Austin, it’s ok). This week is always a tough one for fantasy football of any kind, but thankfully there are plenty of teams needing to win for their playoff lives or playoff seeding.  Here’s my team for the $30k Tournament this week. Have at it and good luck!

QB Kyle Orton $5,000 PHI@DAL

On the season the Eagles are allowing 303.3 yards passing per game and rank 28th in fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks. In their last road game they gave up 26-of-35 completions for 382 yards, two touchdowns and one interception as well as a rushing touchdown to Matt Cassel. His previous high on the season was 265 yards passing. Orton hasn’t played a full game in a long while, but has always been dependable and in this must-win game against a good offense he will have to stay on the attack.

RB LeSean McCoy $9,400 PHI@DAL

McCoy leads the league in total yards and rushing yards. This week he is in a must-win game against Dallas who gives up the most total yards to running backs per game with 168.6. Sean Lee is out once again and McCoy will be able to do pretty much what he wants in the receiving and running game. This game is for all the marbles and McCoy will play until the outcome is decided.

RB Eddie Lacy $8,400 GB@CHI

Yes, he’s hurting, but he’s been playing well even with the bum ankle and this week he gets the Bears run defense who have given up 11 100+ yard rushing games to running backs and 150 yards and a touchdown to Lacy the last time these two teams met. Aaron Rodgers is back which can only help Lacy see less stacked boxes. The weather isn’t going to be great in Chicago either, so they may go to the run game even more. He’s a risk to leave the game if he aggravates his ankle injury to be sure, but it’s win or go home and Lacy won’t stop unless he’s dying.

WR Jerrel Jernigan $5,200 WAS@NYG

Jernigan has led the Giants in targets and receptions over the last two weeks and gets a nice matchup against Washington this week. They’ll want to continue to see how he plays and with Rueben Randle hurting he should have even more chances. Washington ranks 31st in completion percentage allowed with 67.4%. The last time these two met Victor Cruz had a decent game with six receptions for 80 yards and with Eli Manning gun shy this season he should target Jernigan in the slot with plenty on shorter passes.

WR Greg Jennings $5,800 DET@MIN

Jennings has stepped up of late with more targets from Matt Cassel and has averaged 6.75 receptions for 80.3 yards over the last four games. His biggest game of the season came two weeks ago at home against the Eagles with Adrian Peterson and Toby Gerhart out of the lineup. That looks like the case again this week and they face another poor pass defense in Detroit.

WR Pierre Garcon $8,100 WAS@NYG

Garcon and Kirk Cousins have connected well over the last two games and that should continue this week. Since Cousins has been the starter Garcon has caught 18 passes for 273 yards and two touchdowns in two games. I say ride the hot hand here.

TE Jimmy Graham $7,600 TB@NO

I also like Vernon Davis a lot this week, but his huge game against the Cardinals came without Michael Crabtree. Since Crabtree’s return his targets have decreased. But we know Jimbo Graham is going to get his targets and the Saints very much need to win this game for their playoff hopes and dreams. The last time Graham faced Tampa Bay was in Week 2 when he caught 10 passes for 179 yards and a touchdown. He’s only had five games this season without a touchdown and he’s had five games with two touchdowns. He’s about as safe as you can get with such a high ceiling.

K Graham Gano $5,000 CAR@ATL

The Falcons have given up the second most fantasy points to kickers and this game is in a dome and he’s cheap.

D San Diego Chargers $5,300 KC@SD

Kansas City will most likely rest their starters at least for part of this game and the Chargers still have hope for the playoffs if they win. I like those two things.
