Rough news out of Vancouver: a MCL sprain will sideline David Booth for 4-6 weeks. It’s a shame, too, because it seemed like he was finally starting to click on “The American Express Line.” Honestly, I’m not sure he’s all that worthy of occupying your IR slot(s) either, unless that position is empty anyway. Maybe things will start breaking his way in 2012, as January is likely the earliest time he’ll return.
John Carlson is heating up for the Washington Capitals, with seven points in his last three games. He has 19 points overall this season, so it’s obvious the talented youngster is rising. Of course, he might also lose some chances when Mike Green is back to being his normal, healthy self, so keep that in mind. Still, he’s worthy of being on your radar. In fact, it wouldn't be a horrible time to give him an "audition," to be honest … Speaking of Caps, Tomas Vokoun might be a prime trade target right now. Many owners are likely frustrated with his work, but he’s starting to show signs of improvement and got the win on Wednesday … Zack Kassian is an intriguing pick in Buffalo. He has some scoring touch (two points last night, five in six games overall) and isn’t afraid to drop the gloves, either. I’m not saying that he’s a no-brainer pick up, but keep an eye on him.
Joni Pitkanen is day-to-day with an upper-body injury … Scottie Upshall is on the IR with an abdominal injury … Mikael Samuelsson might make his Florida Panthers debut tonight, but keep tabs on updates throughout today to make sure … Justin Williams is a coin toss for tonight’s game after hurting his hand … That huge Dion Phaneuf hit gave Michael Sauer a concussion … Brayden Schenn is day-to-day with having almost no luck this season … Clarke MacArthur is day-to-day with an upper-body injury.
