CHL Top Draft Eligible Scorers
Tuesday, March 27, 2012
With the NHL entry draft garnering focus from fans whose clubs have been eliminated from playoff contention, questions arise from the type of players available come June. Plenty of coverage will be devoted to the upcoming draft class, especially after season's end and the draft lottery has taken place.
In preparation for the event, I took a moment to present the top 30 point scorers in the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) for all the draft eligible players in June.
The list below only focuses on the playes that entered the season with draft eligibility. That is, any player born on September 16, 1993 to September 15, 1994. Players that were not chosen in previous drafts (such as Tanner Pearson) are not represented here.
Play NHL Snapdraft Daily!
The breakdown is color-coded, but breaks down as a representation of the CHL:
OHL - 13
WHL - 11
QMJHL - 6
d
Broken down by Position
Center - 15
Left Wing - 5
Right Wing - 5
Defense - 5
Mikhail Grigorenko leads the draft class in scoring, while the OHL is well represented. It's no surprise that half the skaters draft class emerging out of the CHL are pivots, while five blueliners also make the list. Three of those five defensemen are from the WHL.
For those interested in the detailed analysis and in-depth scouting reports of the entire 2012 draft class, make sure to take advantage of the McKeen's Hockey Draft Guide. prepared by former Atlanta Thrashers scout and current Director of Amateur Scouting, David Burstyn.
