Ovechkin on Fire!

Monday, October 7, 2013

Justin Schultz: 1 point in 8:04 minutes of power play time.

Jordan Eberle: 1 point in 7:01.

Taylor Hall: Zero points in 6:49.

Nail Yakupov: Zero points in 6:48.

Ryan Smyth: Zero points in 6:48.

David Perron: Zero points in 6:04.

The Oilers were 2-8 this week. Jesse Joensuu and Boyd Gordon found the back of the net with Schultz, Eberle, Ales Hemsky and Mark Arcobello assisting. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is due back Monday and that will negate Smyth's power play time.

Brian Campbell: Zero points in 12:22 minutes of power play time.

Tomas Fleischmann: Zero points in 10:40.

Tom Gilbert: Zero points in 10:35.

Kris Versteeg: Zero points in 10:25.

Scott Gomez: Zero points in 10:16.

Jonathan Huberdeau: Zero points in 7:57.

The Panthers were 0-11 in the first week of the season with only nine shots on net. Rookie Aleksander Barkov was on the ice for 7:35 minutes on the second unit.

Anze Kopitar: 2 points in 6:55 minutes of power play time.

Mike Richards: Zero points in 6:49.

Jeff Carter: 1 point in 6:42.

Drew Doughty: 1 point in 6:31.

Slava Voynov: 1 point in 6:31.

Jacob Muzzin: 1 point in 6:27.

The Kings were 3-8 this week. Carter, Doughty and Justin Williams scored with the man-advantage while Kopitar assisted twice. Kopitar had 16 assists on the power play last season but never found the back of the net. Voynov, Muzzin, Willie Mitchell and Matt Frattin also had assists.

Jason Pominville: 1 point in 8:56 minutes of power play time.

Dany Heatley: Zero points in 8:35.

Ryan Suter: 1 point in 8:31.

Zach Parise: 1 point in 8:21.

Mikko Koivu: 1 points in 8:03.

Mikael Granlund: 1 point in 6:25.

The Wild were 3-9 this week. Pominville, Parise and Jonas Brodin scored with Suter, Koivu, Granlund and Nino Niederreiter drawing assists. Look for Brodin to get more time on the power play as the season progresses.

P.K. Subban: 1 point in 15:04 minutes of power play time.

Andrei Markov: Zero points in 11:42.

Rene Bourque:1 point in 9:50.

David Desharnais: Zero points in 9:04.

Alex Galchenyuk: 1 point in 8:45.

Daniel Briere: Zero points in 8:20.

The Canadiens were 2-13 this week. Bourque and Brendan Gallagher scored

while Subban, Galchenyuk, Lars Eller and Brian Gionta assisted. Eller was 10th in power play time but he has five points in his first two games and he'll get more pp time deeper into the season.

Patric Hornqvist: Zero points in 7:41 minutes of power play time.

David Legwand: Zero points in 7:07.

Shea Weber: Zero points in 6:52.

Craig Smith: Zero points in 6:46.

Seth Jones: Zero points in 6:30.

Mattias Ekholm: Zero points in 6:20.

The Predators were 0-7 this week. Roman Josi will see more time on the first unit once he returns from injury. They had nine shots on goal.

Travis Zajac: Zero points in 4:05 minutes of power play time.

Marek Zidlicky: Zero points in 3:56.

Michael Ryder: Zero points in 3:20.

Damien Brunner: Zero points in 3:19.

Jaromir Jagr: Zero points in 3:15.

Adam Henrique: Zero points in 3:00.

The Devils were 0-4 this week. They really miss Ilya Kovalchuk who was a staple of the Devils power play as he played most if not all of every power play.

Kyle Okposo: Zero points in 5:52 minutes of power play time.

Lubomir Visnovsky: 1 point in 5:52.

John Tavares: 1 point in 5:52.

Matt Moulson: Zero points in 5:52.

Frans Nielsen: 1 point in 4:19.

Matt Donovan: Zero points in 1:36.

The Islanders were 1-4 Saturday with Travis Hamonic scoring the lone goal. Kyle Okposo also saw 2:34 minutes of power play time and drew an assist. Tavares had the other assist and look for him to be the big scorer on the power play for the Islanders.

Brad Richards: Zero points in 4:45 minutes of power play time.

Derek Stepan: 1 point in 4:31.

Marc Staal: 1 point in 3:46.

Mats Zuccarello: Zero points in 3:45.

Benoit Pouliot: Zero points in 3:37.

Rick Nash: 1 point in 3:40.

The Rangers were 1-4 this week as they played only one game. Nice to see Marc Staal with the goal after he suffered an eye injury last season that out his career in danger. Nash and Stepan assisted.

Erik Karlsson: Zero points in 5:19 minutes of power play time.

Peter Wiercioch: Zero points in 3:34.

Milan Michalek: Zero points in 3:24.

Jason Spezza: Zero points in 3:24.

Bobby Ryan: Zero points in 3:16.

Kyle Turris: Zero points in 1:55.

The Senators were 0-4 this week. They had plenty of shots with 11 in the four chances. Bobby Ryan finally gets first unit time after not getting it in Anaheim. It may have been surprising that Joe Corvo saw no time on the power play in his one game but they had only 1:24 minutes of power play time against Toronto and he didn't play on the first unit.
