QUICK HITS - GOALIES
Ben Bishop is only owned in 53 percent of Yahoo leagues. If the Lightning contend for a playoff spot, it will be with Bishop, so I think he’s absolutely worth adding if you’re goalie-needy or even just middle-of-the-road … Jonathan Quick is a little overrated - at least in the regular season - but he should still straighten things out. Eventually … Jonas Gustavsson scooped up another win. He remains a nice short-term guy … The Maple Leafs are riding ridiculous luck, but so are the Colorado Avalanche. I've generally been pro-Semyon Varlamov, but that .965 save percentage will come down eventually (and don’t overrate Patrick Roy’s influence there) … James Reimer absolutely stole a win for Toronto (or Darcy Kuemper gave it away for Minnesota). Great news for Reimer owners, as he deserves a fair shake. It should be an interesting battle to watch again … Ryan Miller finally got his well-deserved first win. Poor guy … Not a great sign for Devan Dubnyk owners that the Oilers started Jason LaBarbera in back-to-back games. Of course, they lost again, too.
QUICK HITS - SKATERS
Sidney Crosby has a patently absurd seven points in his last two games. Confession: I chose him with a first overall pick in a draft, even though I feared his long list of injury bad luck and so on. Sometimes you just need to go with a) your gut and b) the bold move with a higher ceiling and lower floor #famouslastwords … Tye McGinn is worth at least a “revolving door” consideration. Who knows how long this will work out, but he’s currently riding shotgun with Claude Giroux and it shows: Jamie McGinn’s brother has three goals in two games. Did I mention he’s skating with Claude Giroux? … Shootout goals are SO frustrating for fantasy owners, right? … Well, Nail Yakupov didn’t do much, but at least he played on Tuesday … As long as Cam Atkinson is skating with Brandon Dubinsky and Marian Gaborik, he's worth monitoring. And keeping around in deeper leagues, at least … Good to see Jason Spezza back. His hat trick looked healthy … Speaking of Senators getting over injuries, it's hard not to be worried about Erik Karlsson, who "only" has 16 SOG and three points in six games. I'm worried my comparison between Karlsson and the Washington Redskins' RGIII might become uncomfortably apt (PLEASE tell me both will get back to what they were at some point).
INJURIES (full list)
Again, Boyle can at least move his limbs. Sheesh … Max Pacioretty tweaked his left leg pretty awkwardly and didn’t return to Tuesday’s game … James van Riemsdyk missed Tuesday's game with the Leafs-ain't-tellin' ... Bad news: Kari Lehtonen's on the IR; Good news: open slot to fiddle around with ... Same with Anton Khudobin, although it's a bigger bummer because he's losing already-shaky chances to encroach on Cam Ward's top gig ... Keith Ballard's hurt but this time it's different (because he's in Minnesota, not Vancouver).
