Sharks shooting plenty

Monday, January 6, 2014

The San Jose Sharks are firm believers that you have to shoot the puck during a power play. They lead the NHL in shots on goal with 307, 64 ahead of Dallas and Vancouver who are tied for second.

In the past five seasons the Sharks have been first, first, third, second and are now first again with the season halfway over.

The Stars and Canucks are tied for second but they have two of the worst power plays as the Stars have scored only 19 times which is fourth worst in the NHL and the Canucks are not a lot better at 22 goals.

The five worst teams in the NHL are Florida (174), Boston (172), Tampa Bay (171 but without Steve Stamkos for most of the year), Calgary (164) and New Jersey (153).
